December 2009 Archives
Time to find out who the first Saturday Night Live host of the new decade is! Surely it's somebody timely, right? Somebody hip and now? Sadly, no.
New shows being developed! Old shows getting cancelled! New cast members joining! Old cast members getting fired! Guest stars! Arrest warrants! This is TWoP News!
One TV show we love, one we like and two we've never heard of hit shelves today. We're sure they all have their reasons for releasing on December 29th, especially since their new seasons are as much as a few months away, but damned if we know what they are. We almost considered listing some anime releases here to fill things out, but those things all blur together for us now. Our otaku days are behind us, sadly.
In this tough economy, we can't be expected to spend a ton of money on presents for the holidays. So the best bet is to take something unwanted and pass it along to someone else who might appreciate it. This is exactly what we'd like to do with characters on some of our favorite shows. We've got the wrapping paper ready and shipping boxes all set so we can pass these folks off and make their current shows better in the process.
In January, 2000, MightyBigTV.com was recapping an ambitious sci-fi show created by Joss Whedon (Buffy), a campy high school series produced by Ryan Murphy (Popular) and a teen drama developed by Kevin Williamson (Dawson's Creek), not to mention programs starring Matthew Fox (Party of Five), Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal), Katherine Heigl (Roswell), Jason Segel (Freaks & Geeks), among many others. Now ten years later, the site is recapping... an ambitious sci-fi show created by Joss Whedon (Dollhouse), a campy high school series produced by Ryan Murphy (Glee) and a teen drama developed by Kevin Williamson (The Vampire Diaries), not to mention programs starring Matthew Fox (Lost), Calista Flockhart (Brothers & Sisters), Katherine Heigl (Grey's Anatomy), Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), among many others.
More people are trying to hurt our beloved Jersey Shore friends. I don't know how much more of this I can withstand.
Congratulations! It's a... well, it's two final season collections, a cartoon special and a volume of Secret Life. If you were waiting for some good TV to come out on DVD today so you could get it for your TV-loving friend for the holidays, you're out of luck.
All Survivor and SNL, all the time.
While we love it when beloved stars get cast in new shows, we're just excited when we discover new favorites. This past year we've gotten some wonderful surprises thanks to the actors and personalities that were never regulars on a TV series before, but are now big stars - at least in our minds. In fact, we really can't believe that until 2009 we didn't even know that the majority of these people even existed. How did we survive?
Breaking: CBS loves Chuck Lorre. I love James Franco. A bit of a slow news day on this Thursday.
