Lots of casting and cancellation news today, but the first entry in our lineup has been pre-empted in order to bring you a very special message about pre-emption...
President Obama's speech about Afghanistan will air on all of the networks tonight, bumping all programming by anywhere from a half-hour to an hour. Yes, this includes the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Best make sure your DVR is on-schedule, so as not to miss a moment and/or buttock.
Everyone wants to be on a vampire TV show, but only the cream of the crop are chosen. In True Blood's case, that means they're raiding the versatile, award-winning cast of Prison Break, casting Linc's son LJ as Sam's younger brother and receptionist Trishanne as Bill's original wife. Vampire Diaries has gone one better, casting Dexter dad James Remar as the Salvatores' pater familias Giuseppe and recurring Army Wife Kelly Hu as the Mystic Falls apothecary, both in a flashback episode. Also, onetime Heroes star Sendhil Ramamurthy will join the upcoming Rex is Not Your Lawyer, and Supernatural cardsharp Hal Ozsan will play the faculty advisor on 90210. It's the ciiiircle of liiiiiffe...
Speaking of the circle of life, Raising the Bar and Three Rivers have both been cancelled. While we wish Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Alex O'Loughlin the best of luck on other, better shows, we are grateful we no longer feel guilty about not watching the ones they were on.
Meanwhile, Nicole Richie is just being handed a half-hour sitcom. For being Nicole Richie. Who was on a reality show and one episode of Chuck. Guess she's not doing the talk show based out of her house any more, huh?
Last of all, did you know there's an Australian version of The Sopranos called Underbelly? Because Eric Bana may play a gangster in Season Four. I believe the plot of that season was inspired by the Australian mob's successful attempt to watch FlashForward a week ahead of everyone else by cleverly not celebrating Thanksgiving. Curse those clever Ozzie bastards.

Underbelly is actually based on real events..and it's awesome!
I second the recommend on Underbelly. It's just brilliant.
Ummm... the NY Post article about Flash Forward said that Australia Thanksgiving isn't celebrated until May. WTF???? Australians don't celebrate Thanksgiving AT ALL and we don't have any holidays in May. That's just.... abysmally bad fact checking.
Underbelly is dreadful. It's Austrlaian television trying to be 'slick' like US TV and falling embarrassingly short.
I watched all 8 eps of Three Rivers and it was a great show. CBS just screwed things up - again.
I think it's hilariously karmic that us Aussies actually saw something first. We're always getting spoiled the other way around.
I liked Underbelly too. It's a bit eerie to watch at times because of the fact that it is actually based on real events, but I think that that just adds to it.
