BLOGS
One TV show we love, one we like and two we've never heard of hit shelves today. We're sure they all have their reasons for releasing on December 29th, especially since their new seasons are as much as a few months away, but damned if we know what they are. We almost considered listing some anime releases here to fill things out, but those things all blur together for us now. Our otaku days are behind us, sadly.
Glee Vol. 1: Road to Sectionals
We sure as hell aren't happy about having to wait four months to watch the second half of the season, but we're pleased as punch to have the first half out on DVD already. This way, we can fast-forward over the moralizing and the deaf kids singing (sorry, deaf kids) and Matt Morrison rapping to watch the top-notch musical performances and hear every crazy word that comes out of Jane Lynch's mouth. As if the music and comedy in every episode weren't enough, we get some decent extras in the form of video diaries from most of the cast, a tour of McKinley high by Principal Figgins, the full glee club tryout songs of Rachel and Mercedes, and documentaries about choreography, music and casting (with some audition footage). Here's hoping we can maintain our sense of glee about this series until April.
United States of Tara: Season 1
Similar to Glee, Season 2 of Tara doesn't start until March 22, but there's plenty of inter-personality warfare here to keep you entertained until then. Heck, between this and Jennifer's Body, it's like Diablo Cody D-Day at the DVD store. Now gimme!
Whale Wars: Season 2
Sadly, this show is not about people fighting aggressive whales, or even aggressive whales fighting each other. No, it's about activists who fight to save whales by interfering with Japanese whale hunters. It's a War of the Whales!
Emily of New Moon: The Complete Second Season
All we can say is, this better have some werewolves in it.

Am I the only one who's totally annoyed by the Glee vol. 1 release? I absolutely hate it when shows split seasons into two separate box sets. And with a list price of $40 for half a season, highway robbery. I read somewhere that Fox will be releasing a full 1st season in the summer, so I'll wait for that.
Knowing Fox, the full season set will be bare bones, with all the bonus material on the split season sets. :P
Why won't they release all seasons of the Rockford files?
I saw a bit of Whale Wars. Couldn't believe it was a real show. South Park did an awesome job parodying it! Such a stupid show. Unfortunately they don't do anything to interfere with the whale hunt. They just cry about how powerless they are. Not nearly as powerful as The Cove for having any kind of impact on stopping this type of butchery - seemed more of an excuse to show how sensitive they are, and to show off their admittedly sharp-looking outfits. Haven't a clue who would actually buy the video.
The full season set of Glee better have all the same extras... I'm not thrilled that they're splitting the season up, either. At least most stores aren't actually charging the list price for the first half.
Great tinhknig! That really breaks the mold!
