Things have been so crazy lately, I don't even know what a "slow news day" is anymore. Sounds like an urban legend, if you ask me.
TWoP favorite Neil Patrick Harris will host an American adaptation of The Cube, Britain's most success game show about slowly torturing people.
Losties will be pleased to hear that the first four minutes of the season premiere are online, but will disappointed to realize you don't learn a single thing from them. Still, spoilerphobes best stay away! The February 4 Surviving Survivor special will feature Richard Hatch. I thought he was in jail? How many hours did he have to stand on a stump in order to pull this one off?
CBS has rejected that Super Bowl ad for a gay dating site. However, the network is pleased to announce that Janet Jackson's nipple will be singing the National Anthem.
Glee alert!: The third role writers are adding to the series has been revealed!
ABC has just picked up a pilot from Simpsons writer Dana Gould. Another ABC pilot, Awkward Situations for Men just signed Matt Letscher (aka Eli Stone's Nathan Stone) and Tony Hale (aka Chuck's Emmett Milbarge aka Arrest Development's Buster Bluth) as its lead actors.
NBC greenlit two projects. Outsourced is about a wacky manager... but with a twist. Way more intriguing is The Cape, a series about a cop-turned-masked hero.
A few MTV announcements: Teen Mom fans will get a new season of the series -- I'm assuming with new girls from the upcoming season of 16 and Pregnant -- as well as a pilot marketed as "a real life Breakfast Club," which sounds great because I love Emilio Estevez!
I'm glad to see that HBO keeps picking up great new projects, the latest being a series from Maria Bello, Simon Beaufoy and Russell Crowe.
In a totally different way, TBS's pilot Glory Daze also sounds pretty good, assuming those four incoming freshman are mega nerds.
TLC just picked up a project titled Trashmen, and I want everyone to know that if this was five years ago, I would make a Kevin Federline joke right now.
Conan staffers are pleased and terrified to announce that they're starting their own web series
Greedy Steve Carell wants keep making us laugh with yet another remake of a British comedy, Only Fools and Horses.
In my favorite news story ever, Flight of the Conchords co-creator Jame Bobin has signed on to direct Disney's new Muppet movie. Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller co-wrote the project.
Don't worry, everyone, the stars of Ugly Betty will still get to sleep easy in their mansions at night because everyone in Hollywood wants to hire them.
And finally: While he's not invited into the actual ceremony, General Larry "Pants on the Ground" Platt will be performing on the red carpet during the Grammys. Let me know when the rest of America is finally sick of him.
