Today's TWoP News: January 4, 2010

Speaking of how there hasn't really been a lot of news recently, suddenly there is. Back to work, TWoP News!

She may have been killed off on Dexter, but at least Julie Benz can always go back to stripping. She'll play a stripper with a Master's degree in education who gets offered a job by Susan on Desperate Housewives. A job teaching, we presume, at the prestigious private school Susan works at? Good thing Karl's no longer with us.

Speaking of killed-off characters, ex-Saturday Night Live cast member Casey Wilson has joined a new pilot called Retired at 35, where she plays a woman whose brother leaves New York City to move into their father's retirement community.

Speaking of actors trading up on shows, a guy from Southland is joining True Blood, a Wilson Brother is joining new HBO show Enlightened, and a massive forehead from Dawson's Creek is joining Mercy. Please, Van Der Beek, don't nurse 'em.

Speaking of actors returning from obscurity, Mayim "Blossom" Bialik is acting again, on 'Til Death and Secret Life of an American Teenager, and if you know who she is, you probably don't watch either one of those shows.

Speaking of washed-up celebrities, the cast of Celebrity Apprentice has been announced, and it includes Cyndi Lauper, Sharon Osbourne, Bret Michaels, Rod Blagojevich and Sinbad. The inclusion of Sinbad puts this cast over the top, thereby eclipsing the cast of the next Celebrity Big Brother, which includes Stephen Baldwin, Heidi Fleiss, Lady Sovereign, Vinnie Jones and Sisqo. But it was really close for a minute there.

Speaking of bizarre TV show ideas, Courtney Cox and David Arquette are pitching a TV show about New York City street food vendors, called Eat Street, that may get picked up by ABC. We would have called it Street Meat, but that's just us.

Speaking of street meat, isn't Jersey Shore its own porn parody? To make an adult spoof of it seems redundant. And I think Jersey Whores was actually the original working title.

Speaking of crime-committing reality stars, the star of Deadliest Catch has finally been caught.
