Today's TWoP News: January 6, 2010

Today's TWoP News: January 6, 2010 There are few things we love more than desperate celebrity cameos, which were graciously brought to us today by the fine people of SVU. Also, be warned: there are a lot of pilots flying around the TV news airways. Luckily, most of them will probably crash.

Law & Order: SVU announced that Sharon Stone is joining the cast as a former cop-turned prosecutor in the beginning of April, appearing on a four-episode story arc. Likewise, Mischa Barton is possibly subjecting herself to playing a hooker named Gladys. Try not to think of these actresses as hacks; were they playing golf, they would be winners for scoring so low.

In successful career news, Fox has greenlighted the cop drama Ridealong by Shawn Ryan, creator of The Shield. The show focuses on one of Chicago's toughest cops as he struggles to keep his city safe. A tough cop... now where have we heard that before?

Just when The Jeff Dunham Show was cancelled and we thought our bad comedy nightmares were over, Carlo Mencia's pilot was picked up by ABC. The show is a family comedy based on Mencia's life, act, and stolen Bill Cosby jokes. Cedric the "I can't believe I always have to write out his whole name" Entertainer has also had a project greenlit by the network. The comedian plays a retired baseball player-turned-radio host with family issues.

On the bright side, two promising dramas have received pilot orders: 187 Detroit, a quasi-mockumentary that follows a top homicide division, has been approved by ABC. HBO has ordered a pilot for Luck, a drama following the dirty world of horse racing and gambling. The series is co-produced by Deadwood creator David Milch.

All this news keeping you from rewatching the 98 hours of Lost you barely remember? Don't worry, you can be semi-covered in a mere 8 minutes. You sweethearts out there can skip ahead to 3:46 for a tender Desmond-Penny moment.
