Today's TV news contains two types of surprises: "pleasant" and "not really pleasant but makes me happy anyway." I'm not sure which I prefer at this point.
The CW has announced early pickups for Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, 90210, Supernatural, and America's Next Top Model. Notice that Melrose Place didn't make the cut... could this be the end for the crapfest?
Jack Bauer is taking on his greatest enemy yet -- a cyst! While Sutherland is in surgery, the production of 24 is currently on hold. Does this mean the terrorists have won?
The hilarious Cheri Oteri has been given her own webseries on AMC.com. I wish she could have a role on Glee like former SNL costar Molly Shannon, but I'll take what I can get.
Jerry Seinfeld's Marriage Ref continues to make headlines as Madonna plans to guest judge. Can someone please explain the appeal of this show to me? It just sounds like a bunch of celebrities sitting around watching clips of Wife Swap.
The Forgotten's Michelle Borth and Raising the Bar's Jonathan Scarfe have joined the cast of the ABC pilot The Matadors. I'm sorry, but I still can't get over that this show isn't about bullfighting.
Well, look what we have here: Kevin Eubanks is quitting the Tonight Show. Jay, in the worlds of Nelson Muntz: "Haw-haw!"

More on Cheri Oteri's new show: http://tv.yahoo.com/blog/cheri-oteri-tackles-lifes-big-problems-in-new-short-comedy--992
Kripke's abdication of his SPN show-runner throne (to be taken up by Sera Gamble) should definitely have made this list! Maybe it came out too late in the day?
I like the idea of Cheri Oteri on "Glee".. I would love to see her turn up on a show like "Chuck" as well, maybe as a new manager and rival for Morgan. It might make some of those b-plots more fun to watch.
I guess we don't have to worry whether Sam and Dean will survive the apocalypse.
