March 2010 Archives
There is so much news today, and I didn't even talk about how there's a Jersey Shore book or a fourth Austin Powers movie!
Today's TV news goes in like a lion and out like a JWoww.
Aside from Mad Men, the TV on DVD release this week are mostly guilty pleasure-types, or, in some cases, just the guilt part.
I recently re-watched the first season of United States of Tara and after compiling a gallery about its most shocking moments, I realized how disgustingly addicted I am to this show, despite its affiliation with Diablo Cody. So imagine my delight last week when Showtime generously provided the entire second season for my gluttonous viewing pleasure. (Thanks!)
It's as if Mother Nature felt bad for taking our 70-degree March weather away and replacing it with rain, so she gave us some wonderfully nerdy TV news to make up for it.
The Top 12 became a Top 11 when Lacey Brown was voted off of American Idol last week, and though she's not going to be on the show anymore, she has a surprisingly upbeat attitude about it. I listened in on a post-elimination media call with her last week, and got to hear all about what being voted off feels like, why she chose the songs she did and what Simon says to eliminated contestants before they ship off. Read on for highlights.
Fans of the Syfy show Eureka will have to wait until July to see for themselves, but we talked to the show's two stars at the Syfy Upfront event and found out that the entire town of Eureka will be "changed" when Season 4 debuts. Colin Ferguson ("Sheriff Jack Carter") and Salli Richardson-Whitfield ("Dr. Allison Blake") talked about a major paradigm shift that takes place in the first episode, around the same time new cast member James Callis (Battlestar Galactica's Gaius Baltar) comes to town. Plus, we learn the fates of Zoe and Tess, and we hear how Allison is going to mix it up! If only there were a word that expressed our feeling of discovery...
TGIF, you guys! But also, IIASTTGIFIOA -- isn't it a shame that TGIF isn't on anymore? I'd kill for a new episode of Boy Meets World.
Nurse Jackie Season 2 is upon us, and to promote the new episodes Showtime was lovely enough to invite my tape recorder and I to their premiere party/hospital charity event to interview the cast and watch some real-life nurses compete against each other in some Double Dare-esque challenges to raise money for cancer research and the like (you had to be there). Read on for some spoilers and insights into the new season from Edie Falco, Peter Facinelli, Dominic Fumusa (Jackie's husband Kevin) and Stephen Wallem (Thor!).
We love TV network pilot season because it's filled with such potential. So many shows in their infancy (a.k.a. script form), casting announcements flying around, the anticipation of something new from our favorite showrunners... But while many of the announced pilots already have us praying for full-season pick-ups, there are plenty of others that we hate based only on what little we know about them. Here are the potential shows that we hope don't make it to the fall lineup.
