It is the nicest day ever! Celebrate with some TV news!
Now that Fox and Conan O'Brien are trying to work out the details for a new late-night show, we're a little worried about what this means for the Internet's favorite host. We're excited for Coco's return to television, but jumping from NBC to Fox may not be the smoothest transition. We imagine that Rupert Murdoch will fight to keep classic Late Night sketches, and make a few demands from O'Brien and his well-established brand. Such as...
Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! Sadly, it's not entirely joyful for us at the TWoP office, because we are right next to the insanely loud NYC parade and it has been going on all day. I'd be having a meltdown if it wasn't for such a good Lost episode last night. Love you, Sawyer.
The science-fiction epic Caprica is building to its explosive mid-season finale, and the cast turned out in force at Syfy's Upfront party in New York to talk to the press about what little they could without giving the show's secrets away. Esai Morales ("Joseph Adama"), Alessandra Torresani ("Zoe"), Magda Apanowicz ("Lacy") and Battlestar Galactica and Caprica co-creators Ronald D. Moore and David Eick were able to shed a dim light on the mid-season finale as well as the second half of Season 1, and while nobody could tell us if it would return for a second season, everyone seemed eager to continue what many agree is one of the best shows on television. Read on for some torturous teasers and reflections on the show's greatness.
I feel that I need to be upfront about the fact that I'm not a huge fan of cop or detective shows (unless they are awesome like The Shield or Southland or The Wire), and the last time that I got hooked on a show based on the works of Elmore Leonard, it was ripped away from me far too quickly (RIP, Karen Sisco). However, I was a Deadwood junkie, and so I'll watch Timothy Olyphant any time he feels like putting on a cowboy hat. Also, guest star Walton Goggins is such a fascinating actor that I would watch him read Wikipedia pages in a tortured-looking manner. It should be noted, though, that despite the hat, Justified is not a Western and doesn't feature Deadwood's eloquent profanity. But while I was somewhat skeptical about this show, it turned out to be more than a pleasant surprise.
It wasn't hard-hitting, and it was more than a little bit shameful to have 20/20 spend two entire hours "investigating" The Bachelor. But while we thought we knew everything from our years wasted watching this show, we actually learned some fun/disgusting facts from this "special." Read on to see the surprising things that ABC News' crack team uncovered.
Today's TV news has a a pretty fair distribution of the bad (Paula Abdul and Star Search) and the good (every other piece of news). It's a balancing act, really.
Emmy-award-winning programming is here! Seriously, some good TV comes out on DVD today, which means you can finally turn off that crap you've been watching.
We're down to the Final 12 on American Idol! Man, it must be such a great feeling to get to that point. Really, just the total realization of any young singer's dreams. And to get cut just shy of the final 12? That must be incredibly painful. To find out what that pain feels like, we sat in on a conference call with the four contestants who were cut from the Final 16 last week, and discovered why they think they went home and what they hope they'll be doing in the future.
I'm attributing all of today's exciting stories to the horrible rainstorms we just had in New York City over the weekend... Seriously, the water washed in more news than ever. You hear that, Gleeks? Time to start thanking the precipitation gods!
