Tonight, Jason and Molly of Bachelor 13 infamy will follow in the hallowed footsteps of Trista and Ryan and get married on television. Well, they actually got married last week, but the two-hour special is airing tonight, so the newlyweds participated in a conference call with all of us jaded bloggers to promote the thing. After Jason corrected his own publicist for introducing Molly by her maiden name, we learned all kinds of things about how rain makes weddings even more fairytale-like, how Jason still cries constantly, and how Molly wanted Judy Garland to sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at the ceremony, but since Judy's dead she asked Jason Castro to do it instead. Logical next step. I don't see how any of this could go wrong. Molly: Oh gosh, no. I loved every minute of the rain. It will always make this day far more special than it ever could have been.
Jason: Yes, I was thinking about this earlier, it's too bad you guys don't get to see this, but Ty ran down the aisle literally a minute before Molly walked out so I ran and, I had this huge moment with Ty and I was all emotional. I took him to his seat and then like 30 seconds later Molly was at the top of the stairs and I started crying all over again and it was just -- I think it was like, you know, a combination of all of that.
How were you guys able to stay focused following The Bachelor and make your relationship work?
Molly: I think a lot of it was the fact that we stayed away from Hollywood and went right back into our normal life. I went right back to work the week following. Jason went back to work and we just focused on being a normal couple. It wasn't about, you know, keeping our face out there.
Jason: I think she's right, because it's funny, like, after Jesse and DeAnna had split up, they said one of the hardest things was being out in the public in LA and trying to do some of that stuff and that really was part of the reason of the downfall of their relationship.
Everybody goes on TV for a different reason, right, and part of it is definitely the experience. But I think if you look at like, the people that have been on the show recently, some people have gone off and done certain things and you know, Jake's gone on Dancing with the Stars and it's more power to people that want to do that type of stuff [Editor's Note: He says Jake, but he means Melissa. Because she needs further humiliation at his hands. -- Mindy] but Molly and I have really focused on just getting back to Seattle and doing what we want to do.
Any honeymoon plans?
Molly: We have big honeymoon plans. We're heading to South Africa in a week.
Has anyone approached you for advice on whether they should televise their nuptials?
Molly: We've actually been talking to Jillian and Ed quite a bit about it. [Editor's Note: Oh great! So we have that to look forward to! -- Mindy]
Why did you choose Jason Castro to perform at your wedding?
Molly: I always knew when I walked down the aisle I didn't want to walk down to the typical wedding march song. I wanted something a little more modern and Jason and I both love the rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" that Jason Castro sang but the person who originally sang this song had passed away and we know that Jason sang the same version of it on American Idol so it was a very easy choice to see if he would participate and do this favor for us and he was absolutely phenomenal. I mean he blew us away.
Your thoughts on Jason and Molly's wedding? On Jason Castro being a suitable replacement for Judy Garland? Anything really.
