Now that this season's Dancing with the Stars cast has been announced, is there even such thing as important news? I'll let you be the judge after you read today's headlines.
As we all predicted, Ali Fedotowsky is the next Bachelorette. Wouldn't it be soooo cute if she ended up with a guy who used to work at MySpace?
In actual celebrity news, the very talented Dustin Hoffman has been cast in HBO's Luck. If the pilot gets picked up, this will be Hoffman's first regular TV role since before he and Mrs. Robinson got it on.
American Idol's Katharine McPhee just landed her biggest acting job to date, though I don't see how you can really go up from "Lonelygirl15."
Looks like Robin the stripper won't be around Wisteria Lane for very long, now that Julie Benz has been tapped to co-star in ABC's drama pilot No Ordinary Family. I hope this means Katherine doesn't go crazy again.
Modern Family director Jason Winder is set to do a 1981 Arthur remake. As much as we'd love to see Ed O'Neill in the lead, Russell Brand has won the role. Oh well, it was only a matter of time before this classic was ruined.
HBO has picked up the fantasy series Games of Thrones. Production will begin in June, which is very exciting to everyone who's worn out their LOTR DVDs.
And finally, a big "Happy One Year Anniversary!" to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Congrats!

The "very talented" Dustin Hoffman? Understatement of the year.
I hate to do it, but:
The "very talented" Dustin Hoffman? Understatement of the year.
So excited for Game of Thrones! Anyone who's skeptical of the fantasy genre should still check it out, as the fantasy element is understated and well integrated. It should be more like a medieval version of The Sopranos.
I'd recommend the books too. They call George R. R. Martin "the American Tolkien", but only because there's no one else that even compares. In fact, his books are more modern, engrossing, and interesting than anything Tolkien wrote. Don't believe me? Read them. 9 out of 10 of you will realize that I'm right.
Also, I don't know who's more annoying, PJ Lawrence or SR.
PJ, what was she supposed to write? Just because people bandy about compliments all day long doesn't mean that "very talented" loses its meaning. Being offended because she doesn't like Dustin Hoffman is reasonable, being offended because she did not compliment him enough is idiotic.
SR, did you really think that was going to make anyone even chuckle? Not only was it a poor attempt at humor, but then you add a little intro, like you know it's bad but you just HAVE to write it.
I second this. I'm midway through the third book and they are fantastic, and the casting on this adaptation is looking awesome.
While I have never read the books I am glad that there will be a fantasy series on HBO, a place where it can be nourished and allowed to grow without injecting crap that would just kill it for the sake of getting fickle 18-25 year olds. After Rome and Deadwood the idea of having anything epic and sweeping on this channel again would just be awesome. I am still annoyed that Kings went to NBC instead of HBO (or even Showtime) where it could have shined.
A Game of Thrones should be great on HBO, great cast and an excellent story!
