Gabby Sidibe's got a new job, extortion isn't that big a deal, Heroes might be dead (it'll never be dead), and Katherine Heigl's got a new hairdo.
Robert Halderman, the idiot who tried to extort $2 million from David Letterman, pleaded guilty to extortion and has been sentenced to sixth months in jail plus some probation and community service trimmings. Which sounds bad, but it doesn't sound that bad. It's kind of not at all deterring me from trying to extort millionaires.
Gabourey Sidibe has chosen her post-Oscar season gig wisely: she'll be a recurring character on Laura Linney's Showtime cancer dramedy The Big C.
Dustin's Hoffman's upcoming HBO horse racing series has just added Nick Nolte as a regular. With Dennis Farina also attached to star, this thing is shaping up to be some kind of highbrow Wild Hogs or something. I think it needs Danny Glover and a fancy Brit to be complete. Jeremy Irons? Alan Rickman? Mr. Bean?
In other pilot news: Jean Smart will be playing the governor on CBS' Hawaii Five-O pilot that I very much hope will not get picked up and Brittany Snow is joining David E. Kelly's NBC pilot Kindreds (which also has Kathy Bates attached) that I'm tentative about at this point, but will probably eventually hope does not get picked up.
Maybe this is supporting evidence that Heroes is dead, maybe it isn't: Sendhil Ramamurthy (Mohinder) has joined USA's spy show Covert Affairs, playing a CIA agent. It's (probably) important to note that that is a series with a full order, not just a pilot.
And finally, a round-up of the ridiculous: Lindsay Lohan is suing E-Trade pretty much because she thinks she's as famous as Madonna; David Archuleta is writing his memoirs; it is apparently news that Katherine Heigl has brown hair now, and it is apparently breaking news that Sean Hayes is gay.
