Project Runway: The Lifetime-Inspired Challenges

It's not much of a shocker that Project Runway continues to underperform at its new network considering the disaster that was Season 6 and the snoozefest airing right now (Anthony and Jonathan have been entertaining, but they ain't Christian Siriano, and Mila's no Jeffrey Sebelia in the villain department). Seriously, how many times are we expected to sit through a "design a dress for Hedi" or a "walk around New York City for inspiration" episode? A word of advice to the producers: Take advantage of your audience. You've got a ton of unexplored territory with Lifetime's over-the-top movies and hilariously bad TV shows, so why not use them as a creative resource? We've even come up with a few ideas to appeal to the 18-49-year-old-female demographic that is still generously giving you the time of day.

School-Friendly Maternity Dress for a Pregnant Teenager Challenge
Using their HP tablets, designers will create something that can hide a baby bump from their model's older boyfriend (who just got accepted into Yale) and her ultra-conservative/heads of the Abstinence Board parents.

Go-Go Outfit Challenge
Designers will work in teams of two to create a stripper outfit for the girl who takes on an "easy money" job that rapidly becomes an all-consuming activity that slowly pulls her from her acting classes, her relationships with her boyfriend and family and, most importantly, from her true self. One... or more... contestants can be eliminated in this challenge.

Sexy Mafia-Inspired Outfit Challenge
The client: A woman who just may be in over her head, especially when she fears that her sons may end up "wiseguys" one day. Designers should be sure to take advantage of the Bluefly.com accessory wall, complete with Tommy Guns and garter belts for this retro-chic challenge.

Modern Amish Look Challenge
Designers will be given two days to complete this look. The first day's assignment is a standard Amish outfit, but on the second day, contestants will have to create a companion "funeral look" for shoppers to wear after their husbands senselessly takes the lives of five girls in a schoolhouse shooting before taking his own life, a la Amish Grace.

Military Fabric Evening-Look Challenge
Challengers will create a cocktail dress for the everyday, ultra-dramatic Army Wife to wear during a romantic evening with her husband, using their choice of either classic military prints or actual functioning parachutes. L'Oreal Paris will provide sexy military standard camouflage make-up styles.

Plus-size Prom Dress Challenge
Create a hip yet elegant prom dress for the overweight high-school senior whose name ends up on the list of nominees for the homecoming court as a prank by her classmates. The twist: Each designer must help their "real-woman" model stay true to her own heart while becoming a local celebrity.

The Mother May I Sleep With Danger Challenge
Designers must create an outfit for a naive college student who has fallen in love with a charming pathological liar, credit card scammer and murderer. Note: the design work may be impeded by the client's mother's attempt to break off the relationship and/or the crazed boyfriend abducting the client and hiding her in his cabin in the woods. Guest judge: Tori Spelling.

Outfit That a Woman Can Wear Both When She's Model-Thin and When She's Overweight Challenge
Bonus points if the Drop Dead Diva look can be pulled off during your model's in-between phase when she's a ghost or whatever.

Sexy Lingerie Challenge
The difficult part here will be designing something that won't burn to a crisp when the model sets her cheating husband's bed on fire in the middle of the runway.

Mom Jeans Outfit
In this challenge, the designers literally just have to make mom jeans. It's not as easy as it looks.
