The Millionaire Matchmaker Reunion Special: I Cringed, I Snored

Considering how great Millionaire Matchmaker was this season, I was really looking forward to last night's reunion special. I mean, the very idea of an uncensored Patti and the enticement of catching up with this season's millionaires nearly had me DVRing Lost -- can you imagine? -- so I could watch it in real time. In the end, I didn't, and I'm definitely glad that I was instead able to speed through this snooze-fest.

Unfortunately, the reunion just didn't do it for me, which is really saying a lot, considering I'd probably take a bullet for Patti. I think the biggest flaws were in its poor editing, with clip packages being shown at incorrect times and those horrible-quality Skype video chats with former millionaires that were damn near impossible to hear. And I don't know about you, but I've already had my fill of Jimmy D., am too creeped out by Zagros to have been able to really appreciate his touching words about Susan, and got motion sickness while watching the Ayinde segment. I will say that I have few complaints about the Justin interview. He really delivered his overcompensating douchey-ness, and I enjoyed watching Patti fight with him.

As I've written before, what I love about Patti is that she's obviously really self-conscious but is still able to work past her own insecurities in order to put her awful clients in their places. For this reason, the only moment of substance in the entire evening was when, during an answer to a caller's question, Patti named all of the things that she didn't like about her own appearance. And while it was satisfying to watch our matchmaker finally display some humility, I mostly found it super uncomfortable.

I guess I was hoping for something crazy, like a live appearance from Gummi Bear and his monkey, or a Rachel makeover, or even a f-bomb, but you can't win 'em all. With that being said, in lieu of some sort of top moments list, I proudly present to you a quick interview I recently did with Ms. Stanger. IMNSHO, it's way better than last night's episode. Enjoy!
