Two great American series come out on DVD today, as well as one Canadian series about a vampire detective. Have you hugged a Canadian today? We'll wait...

Party Down: Season 1
There may not be a more perfectly assembled cast in the history of television. Jane Lynch, Adam Scott, Ryan Hansen, Ken Marino, Martin Starr and Lizzy Caplan play aspiring Los Angeles actors and comedians forced to take jobs as cater-waiters. The first ten-episode season is collected here, and even without Jane Lynch, we're looking forward to Season 2 when it starts up this month. Don't let us down, Megan Mullally.

The Unusuals
Another great cast -- the dude from The Hurt Locker, the gal from Joan of Arcadia, a dude from Lost -- in another ten-episode season. Only difference is, there's no second season of Unusuals coming. So you get ten pretty great episodes with crazy cops investigating crazy cases, but you aren't gonna get a whole lotta resolution at the end. Still, worth checking out. (Read more.)

Blood Ties: The Complete Series
Vampire private detectives? Hey, we all love them. Angel, Moonlight, it's all good in the hood. But a Canadian vampire private detective who's also a graphic novelist? That's like geek nirvana. ...The state of spiritual freedom, not the band, although neither is a bad metaphor.

Ally McBeal: Season 2
Who are we kidding -- you probably bought the complete series when it came out last year. Although, as your attorney, we suggest you keep that information from the prosecutors.

Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami
Our only hope is that they next take Tokyo, and are vanquished by the combined forces of Godzilla and Mothra.

Also coming out this week:
Mythbusters: Collection 5 More like Something-We-Saw-In-Point-Break"-busters. Am I right?
King of the Hill: Season 6 This show ran for 13 seasons? What in the Sam Hill...?
Simon & Simon: Season 4 If made today, Simon & Simon would totally be about a divorced couple who co-own a law firm.
Sharpe's Peril We're just glad to see Sean Bean not playing an untrustworthy D-bag for once.
