Warrior Angels: Can Smallville's Former Showrunners Reboot Charlie's?

Somebody save Charlie's Angels! The classic TV series is in the process of being rebooted, with former Smallville honchos Al Gough and Miles Millar at the helm. In addition, they'll be taking over writing duties now that Sarah Connor Chronicles writer Josh Friedman has left the show. Which means the fate of the Angels will be solely decided by, not Charlie, but by the men who brought us Shanghai Noon. We'd be more worried if we hadn't already had our expectations for the series lowered by the last two Drew Barrymore Angels movies (she's an exec producer on the show, BTW). In light of Smallville and the two movies, here are some things we'd like Gough and Millar to keep in mind as they reinvigorate the franchise.

Change Up Your Angels
On Smallville, supporting characters tend to come and go, but the four main characters stayed the same for a long time, and faking their deaths and changing up who was dating who didn't seem to spice things up very much. However, on the old Angels series, an Angel left the show almost every year and they always replaced her with a new, young actress. In a more harsh, gritty TV series, where Angels might get killed, reassigned or decide to do film work, it makes sense to have a more fluid cast.

...But Pick a Bosley and Stick With It
While the Angels can be interchangeable, the identity of the girls' handler Bosley needs to be a constant. You can't be changing Bosleys in mid-stream, like they did in the second Angels movie when they went from Bill Murray to Bernie Mac, so whoever you hire to play Bosley on the show, make sure he's willing to stick around for a while. David Doyle played Bosley for five years on the old show, so let's aim for that kind of longevity. Basically, don't cast Bill Murray and you should be good.

Location, Location, Location Shooting
Each season of Smallville seems to take place on about five regular sets, and trying to mix up the visuals in a given episode can lead to some random choices of location for various scenes. Obviously a Charlie's Angels franchise reboot is going to have a much bigger budget, so try not to use the same sets over and over again so often. Over ten years it can get a little obvious and, frankly, dull.

Don't Stop the Music
This may seem like a no-brainer, but don't change the classic Angels tune -- that's half of what people remember about the show. If you need to update it a little, that's cool, but don't just do a high-tech, computer-sounding version to show that this is "the future," or a guitar-rock version to show that the show is "extreme." Also, don't just completely replace it with a Remy Zero song.

Do Stop the Dancing
Both Charlie's Angels movies featured dance sequences starring all three members. We're assuming this is going to be a more action-heavy, suspense type of show, and not a Glee-style pop culture freakout, so let's keep the Cameron Diaz-inspired booty-shaking to a minimum.
