Today's TWoP News: June 18, 2010

If it wasn't for True Blood and ugly people, today's news would stink!

True Blood's very own Alexander Skarsgard has been cast alongside Friday Night Lights' Taylor Kitsch in the Battleship movie. Even though the film's title is taken from the classic board game, the two actors will be playing naval officers and the story will feature an alien-invasion plot. I'd prefer watching them both in their respective characters, having an epic battle of vampires versus football players. Can someone write that movie?

In less handsome news, X Factor bosses have been accused of only seating good-looking people behind at the judges at auditions so that ugly audience members won't be caught on camera. Ouch! Based on the male judges of America's Got Talent alone, it's clear that we certainly don't discriminate on this side of the pond.

Your days of peering into the Secret Diary of a Call Girl will end after next season, as Showtime just cancelled the series. Maybe Billie Piper will decide to go back to Doctor Who once she's done filming this upcoming season? Dare to dream, everyone!

For those of you who are interested in a lame version of Alias, I'm sure you'll be excited to learn that ABC Family is developing Shadows, a new series about a secret program at Harvard designed to train a new generation of spies.

And lastly, for everyone who came here looking for some kick-ass True Blood news, I'm here to offer you a song that Snoop Dogg wrote about Sookie Stackhouse. Yes, really. It is amazing. He wants to "do it in the daytime" with her, and he wants Tara to come along, too.

It's not like Showtime has anything to do with making Secret Diary of a Call Girl. It's made by ITV in the UK and run on showtime in the US.

I wish Dino would put a sock in it and leave our boards alone.
Yeah, I too will miss Diary of a Call Girl. €The only time I watched Dr. Who was when Billie and Christopher Eccleston headlined. I think Billie likes to stretch her horizons and will prob. appear in something completely different.
As for the Battleship movie, WTF? Are they all drinking the koolaid in HOllywood?? Much as I adore AS, this sounds like crap.
