There's been reports this week that the Glee kids had signed contracts to potentially do three feature films based on the series. While that's all well and good, we're not really sure that we even want three Glee movies. Considering that the show itself is so uneven, they really need to focus their efforts on making great TV. On the other hand, we're still hoping that the 24 movie gets made, and would love it if these ten other recent progams were extended to the big screen as well.
10. Supernatural
Oh, the things this show could do if it had a budget. Angels would look like angels (with wings and everything!), Sam and Dean could take Metallicar out for some high-flying rides (a la the Dukes of Hazzard) and they could probably even afford some creepy CGI monsters to battle.
9. Friday Night Lights
Yes, it started out as a movie, but sports movies are always popular and could maybe convince more people to rent these DVDs. We'd love to see the Dillon Panthers and the East Dillon Lions go head-to-head on the big screen.
8. Justified
Elmore Leonard novels mostly work on the big screen, and watching Timothy Olyphant as U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens chasing down one fugitive for two hours would be a hell of a good time, provided they find a way to fit Boyd into the plot.
7 . Community
We're completely sick of the Scary Movie/Date Movie-type spoofs, but we'd be thrilled to see what the Greendale Community College students could come up with in the way of pop-culture skewering. If short on time, just throw Abed on the screen and have him act out all of the great movie lines of the last decade.
6. Sons of Anarchy
Oh how we'd love to see the SOA boys rumble on to the big screen, preferably in all the gory glory that 3D has to offer. It could be gruesome and loud and pretty much amazing as Jax and Co. head out to visit all the other chapters, burning tattoos off of people or just causing general bar brawls along the way.
5. Gossip Girl
The Sex and the City ladies are getting... how do we say this... a little too long in the tooth to be having wild, sexy adventures around the globe. Let these other sexy city gals have at it. We'd love to see Serena as she travels around the world hooking up with strangers. Oh, and we'd pay big money to see Blair Waldorf on an elephant.
4. Chuck
Think of the explosions they could have if they gave this show an infusion of cash. Bigger budgets, better tech, same old nerdy guy. It could be like a Get Smart movie that didn't totally suck.
3. Vampire Diaries
A story that shows us what the sexy Salvatore brothers have been doing for the last 100 years before they got all wrapped up with Elena and Katherine again? Yeah, we'd be first in line for that. With the success of the Twilight franchise, making this movie seems like a no-brainer.
2. How I Met Your Mother
We're tired of sitting through cringe-worthy episodes in order to find out who the mother is. We used to love this show, but we're at the point of not caring. So make one 90-minute film, wrap it up, give Ted his wedding and let us all get on with our lives.
1. Lost
This doesn't just need a movie, but really needs more of a three-part trilogy in which they explain all of the hundreds of still unanswered questions that the show raised over six seasons. Twelve hours ought to be sufficient. In fact, if they want to say that all of last season was a dream and that this movie is the real story, we'd probably be okay with that, too.
