VH1 Finally Realizes We All Hate Dr. Drew and Hires Some Real Professionals

For a while now, we've been scheming for ways to get Dr. Drew Pinsky off the air for good. Besides being generally annoying, Dr. Drew is one of the biggest famewhores on TV, only doing series that involve celebrities and/or make him the star of the show. We feared that his reign would last until someone forced him to check into rehab for being addicted to power, but thankfully, VH1 has stepped in and put an end to their obsession with making crappy Dr. Drew shows by giving a few new docs a chance. We love Dad Camp's Dr. Jeff Gardere and The OCD Project's Dr. David Tolin, and are forever indebted to them for showing the world a few reasons why Dr. Drew's services are no longer needed. Here's what makes them so different.

They're Not Famewhores
This is a basic but very important point that we cannot stress enough: Because Dr. Jeff and Dr. David don't try to make their shows all about them and their star power, their shows are more enjoyable. Instead of slapping "with Dr. Drew" on every half-baked concept that Pinsky has, we wish that he would try a little harder to think of an interesting, engaging premise about real people with real problems. We're sick of him trying to bait and switch rich, washed out "celebrities" into getting treatment so that he can show the cameras how good he is at therapy. We get the feeling that Dr. Jeff and Dr. David may like being on TV, but that their passions are for helping people.

They're Not Annoying
And let's just say that Dr. Jeff and Dr. David do want a little taste of stardom -- everyone on reality TV does, to some extent. But what makes these docs so likable is that they're not so damn annoying. They do more listening than talking and elect to make their shows less about them and more about their patients. And we like that the two don't ask their patients to do anything that they wouldn't do themselves, because not only does it seem like the most logical way to help people, it also makes for great television. Admit it: Dr. David looks pretty good in Henna.

They're Legit
Sure, Dr. Drew talks a lot about Loveline, his natural "bullshit detector," and all of his experience with treating people with addictions, but Dr. Jeff has lived the life that his troubled young patients are currently going through. That personal experience goes a long way on Dad Camp. And if you want some serious professional experience, Dr. David works with the people on Hoarders! Can you even compare a porn star's addiction to sex with an old lady's addiction to expired yogurt and cat skeletons? Maybe, but one definitely seems way less glamorous.

What do you love about Dr. David and Dr. Jeff? And how good are Dad Camp and The OCD Project? Sound off below, and check out who we think are some of the other worst human beings on reality shows.
