Shows That We'd Watch Five Nights A Week

Tonight kicks off TeenNick's Degrassi-palooza, in which the addictive Canadian teen saga goes from airing sporadically on Friday nights, to monopolizing the summer with a five night a week schedule. Four half-hour originals air Monday through Thursday, and then the entire thing is rerun in a two-hour block on Friday to catch up. While we're not sure that we need a nightly telenovela with this random cast of newbies, we'll probably get sucked in, anyway, because we just can't get enough of that bitchy Holly J. Plus, with a show like this, there are so many cast members that only get screentime every other week, so in some ways this might actually serve the stars better. With that in mind, we got to thinking of the other shows on television that we'd watch every single night, if we could.

True Blood
Like Degrassi (though unlike it in every other possible way), Blood has a plethora of talent who often get sidelined for more pressing storylines. But if this show was on nightly, there could be entire episodes dedicated to shirtless Jason Stackhouse or shirtless Alcide or shirtless Eric. We're not too picky.

Real Housewives of...
We'll admit it, we can't get enough of the Housewives. What we'd love is if the shows ran more frequently instead of leaving months in between installments. One city each night, including Saturdays and Sundays? Let the bitchy catfights and sheer insanity begin.

Friday Night Lights
If they want to make a nightly show about teens, this would be our first choice. With plenty of high school drama and parental chaos and school board issues, all of Dillon would be welcome in our homes every night. Start in September and air it throughout the fall so we can see the prepwork for each big game? We might need to buy stock in tissues, but it would be well worth it.

Jersey Shore
Why aren't more reality shows taking a page from Big Brother and just running episodes late at night and unedited? That's when the good stuff on this show seems most likely to happen. Sure, there are contract disputes now, but it would be fine, just pay Snooki, The Situation, Pauly D and maybe JWWoW and cut the dead weight to make up for the funding shortages.

Mad Men
Five episodes a week would give Matthew Weiner even more time to draw out his carefully constructed plotlines, and help us get a dose of some quality television every night before we kill our brain cells with the likes of Big Brother and The Bachelorette.

Big Brother
Yes, we just said that it kills our brain cells, and yes, there are the nightly live feeds, but with the regular show airing so out of sync with what is actually happening in the house (i.e. when they announced the nominees for eviction, we already know who won PoV). A 30-minute show nightly, with that day's highlights, would definitely help us have the willpower to avoid spoilers.
