In today's headlines, we've got records set, rules adjusted and new endeavors breaking ground. Oh, what tumultuous gales sweep through our TV wasteland.
Brian Austin Green -- better known for being a) a washed-up '90s actor, b) hated by a majority of the male population until they discovered Megan Fox was batshit insane, c) someone whose initials spell an actual word (pretty rare, honestly) -- is confirmed to be the newest neighborhood eye candy on Wisteria Lane. He'll play a contractor in the next season of Desperate Housewives, but no news yet of dropping the "Mr. Fox" moniker for credits.
Saturday Night Live has now surpassed previous record-holder ER for most Emmy Awards nominations with yesterday morning's announcement. And in case you forgot that TV shows are not just spun out of pink sparkles and cotton candy but involve Hard Work And Real People, long-time cameraman Hector Ramirez became the most Emmy-nominated individual with 60 to his name.
Lee Pace, who burned a hole in my heart when he no longer appeared onscreen in all his gangly glory due to Pushing Daisies' premature end, is now slated for a supporting role in HBO's Miraculous Year, exec-produced by Kathryn Bigelow. A bunch of other big deals round out the cast but LEE. PACE. is really all I'm going to say about that.
The Today Show's "Modern Day Wedding" contest decided to finally catch up with society and is now allowing same-sex couples to apply for the popular segment.
In other boundary-breaking news, Comedy Central is developing a show called Brothers From Another Mother, about a white dude and black guy who find out they're best-friends-turned-brothers when their shared father dies. What surprises me most about all this is how long it took for someone to name a show with that ridiculously trite phrase.
And saving the absolute, incomparable, very best for last -- a Britney-themed Glee episode is official! A la "The Power of Madonna," the cast will writhe and shimmy exclusively to the pop star's tunes for a fall episode. We had suggestions for this very idea back in April when the hopeful rumors first started popping up. Yes, it is now safe to start squealing in unabashed delight.

I love Glee, but they need to stop with the nonsense. Just stop.
Well I think they can do one artist-themed episode a season, but they better not do another Madonna one as well as was rumoured. And I hope they do older Britney songs, her new ones are horrible, not even guilty pleasures.
But I get where you're coming from. Glee used to be this awesome little show, it's getting overexposed and obsessed with it's ability to get celebrities and famous songs. I want more showtunes!
So I'm the only person who remembers Brian Austin Green's unexpectedly good performance in Sarah Connor Chronicles? No wonder that show died.
I couldn't agree more, Sawyer. Him and Summer Glau were great in that show and it is a shame that it was cancelled. Has any network cancelled more promising shows than Fox?
Nope, Fox wins that by a mile and a half.
No Sawyer, you aren't the only one who remembers. He was a fantastic asset to that show and deserves props for it.
Whew, glad to see others who feel the same way.
