Do you know where you were when you first caught VD? I was in my living room, watching the CW.

The Vampire Diaries: The Complete First Season
Who knew that this torn-between-two-vampires teen romance would turn out to be the next epic vampire saga? They threw us off the scent early on by having a vampire go to high school and join the football team --Twilight bait, anyone? -- but they gradually worked in 150 years worth of history, some major character deaths, dead characters discovered to be alive again, human characters turned into vampires, redemptive story arcs, werewolves and crazy cliffhangers aplenty. At the risk of enraging millions, "Buffy who?" #ohnoyoudidnt

FlashForward: The Complete Series
If you could see where you'd be a year in the future, and you didn't like it, what would you do? Would you make drastic changes to your life? Try to stave off the coming events? Or would you talk about a lot, debating the evitability or inevitability of such events, until they arrived in due course and you found that they were pretty much spot-on? I'd do the former, but the characters in FlashForward apparently had other ideas.

Sons of Anarchy: Season 2
Remember when Woody Harrelson punched that paparazzo, claiming that he thought the guy was a zombie, because he was just that into his role in Zombieland? Well, the actor who plays Bobby on Sons of Anarchy just tried to punch a cop, so he must have thought that he was still on the show, where he plays an Elvis-impersonating accountant biker (although they haven't really touched on that Elvis stuff in a while). In related news, the only way Season 2 of Sons could have been any better would be if it had had zombies in it. Bikers vs. zombies FTW.

Brothers & Sisters: Complete Fourth Season
If you like watching the Walker family get together for big family dinners on the show -- and if you're a fan of the show, I assume you do, since it happens in, like, every episode -- the extras for this DVD set should be right up your alley, as various featurettes follow the cast of the show to a softball game, an art show opening, a triathlon and a premiere party. We would have preferred a rodeo, a paintball game and a jai alai tournament, but that's just us.

House, M.D.: Season Six
Hey, remember when House was single? Good times. Or, rather, less annoying times.

Parenthood: Season 1
It's kind of hard to dislike this show. I wanted to, since it's based on a 20-year-old movie I didn't like, but you just can't argue with that all-star cast of likeable actors (Graham, Krause, Nelson). If you're not careful, you might even find yourself rooting for Dax Shepard.

Also out this week:
NCIS: Los Angeles - The First Season Chris O'Donnell's finest work ever? Perhaps.
Thriller: The Complete Series Hosted by Boris Karloff. Starring William Shatner. Beloved by Stephen King.
The Middle: The Complete First Season Oh, Neil Flynn -- how we miss you as Janitor.
The Best of Soul Train ...So, it's all of Soul Train?

When Vampire Diaries goes the way of Heroes, we'll all look back and laugh at the fools who even thought of comparing it to Buffy. The show is okay--much of its current beloved status comes from the low expectations we all had for it--but it will never be as culturally relevant or pervasive as Buffy was (and still remains).

On a side note, stfu about zombies already.
