Today's TWoP News: September 14, 2010

It's a slow news day, meaning there's no big news, but there are a bunch of interesting little tidbits. We'll spare you further J. Lo updates.

It's hard for us to get excited about Steven Spielberg's time-travelling dinosaur drama Terra Nova when he won't show us anything, but now that Avatar's Stephen Lang is in talks to play one of the leads, we can start getting excited. Hopefully, the departing producers aren't an extinction-level event for this show.

The first two minutes of Survivor: Nicaragua are available for viewing, revealing that not only is this the young vs. old season, it's also the "Oh my God that girl has an artificial leg" season."

Rachael Taylor, the Australian model who was Miss Teen Tasmania before appearing in Transformers, will be joining the Grey's Anatomy cast midseason as a new Seattle Grace doctor. Wear a vest, Rachael.

Sunday night's Video Music Awards show on MTV did gangbusters, and was the third-most-watched broadcast of the show in MTV history. People must have tuned in to see more of last year's Kanye-Taylor Swift drama, and those people were soundly punished.

Kenny effing Powers is back, y'all, and this season the washed-up baseball star and former substitute P.E. teacher is playing in the Mexican leagues. As the trailer below proves, es muy bueno.

Fans of Twin Peaks, please note that the Psych tribute episode (co-written by Peaks superfan James Roday) will not only feature cast members Sherilyn Fenn, Sheryl Lee, Dana Ashbrook, Ray Wise, Catherine "the Log Lady" Coulson and cameos by Lenny Von Dohlen and Robin Lively, it will also feature a cover of the theme song by Peaks theme song writer and Roadhouse singer Julee Cruise. You're welcome.

The Glades has been picked up for a second season, which we're sure has given the show's producers a case of "the Glads."

Finally, in what should at least be interesting television, Joaquin Phoenix will return to the Late Show with David Letterman for the first time since the two of them made that viral video that time. Here's hoping he also joins the cast of The Real World: Las Vegas 2.
