Except for the cancer, this week is full of win.
Since the show is more or less what you'd get if you slinghot The Sopranos around Mad Men at warp speed (it's what makes time travel possible), HBO has doubled down and renewed Boardwalk Empire for a second season after airing a single episode. Oh, and Showtime renewed Weeds for a seventh season and The Big C for a second. Hooray for booze, drugs and cancer!
Wait -- boo cancer! We're still bummed that Andy Whitfield has to step down as Spartacus to battle the disease. Maybe we should focus on the positive news coming out of genre TV today. For one, The Mummy's Oded Fehr will play a radical Fifth Column leader on V, and The Wire's Andre Royos, who plays a friendly alt-universe cab driver in this week's Fringe season premiere, will return in a later episode!
Survivor creator Mark Burnett is going to create a show like The View for Oprah's new network. Hopefully, all of the cast members will be smarter than fifth graders, and possibly pirate masters.
When The Real Housewives of DC returns next season, yes, we'll have no Salahis.
In what may be a sign of the lord's mercy, or proof of artificial intelligence, some DVRs are finding it impossible to locate $#*! My Dad Says. Now if only they can find a way to "lose" Hellcats!
Finally, the second half of the first season of Caprica starts Oct. 5 -- watch the first half in a little over four minutes. Go ahead, we'll wait.
