Today's TWoP News: November 10, 2010

If you watch the show to your left, you might be a Republican.

Ron Moore is a busy man these days. Not only is his planned Wild Wild West reboot for CBS still on, he's also making a Coast Guard adventure-drama for NBC. I'm sure both those things will be a lot cooler than they sound if/when they air.

Sally Jessy Raphael is shopping a semi-scripted Curb Your Enthusiasm-style comedy starring herself, featuring "her young gay assistant Micah, and her sassy housekeeper Patricia, all of whom she abuses relentlessly." The show doesn't have a network yet, but quick question: When did Sally Jessy turn into Jeff Lewis?

Delta has hired Jake Pavelka as a pilot. Sadly, I mean Delta Airlines, not Delta Burke, as I originally thought when I read the headline.

If you can stomach it, here is a video preview of Gwyneth Paltrow's upcoming Glee appearance. Our firewall here in the TWoP offices wouldn't let me watch the video, though, because our firewall obviously has better taste in how I should spend my time than I do.

The BBC is making a retro, Mad Men-style series about 1950s-era TV news in England, starring Dominic West. Always nice to see that guy gainfully employed and not attempting to do an American accent.

Someone got paid to conduct one of those highly scientific studies to determine what kinds of shows Republicans and Democrats like again. Would you have ever guessed that conservatives love NCIS? And that liberals watch 30 Rock? These always piss people off, so go! Comment your angry heart away about being stereotyped by your Mad Men viewing, you Greenzo hipster!

And network television (ABC this time) continues to try to force Nicole Richie on us, with varying rates of success. Why do they do this? Why?

OK, I'll bite. Isn't it striking how Emmy winners skew Democratic, according to this list? But I can't say for sure whether it's more because 1) Democrats are more attracted to Emmy winners, or 2) the more a show skews to Democratic appeal the more likely it is to appeal to Emmy voters.

FWIW, it looks like my TV preferences indicate that I'm a moderate.

Yeah I love shows on both of these lists, but it seems I'm more on the right-wing side, which is strange, since I'm pretty left-wing.

bwahaha. So, apparently, only 5 million or so of Democrats even watch t.v.? Too bad Mad Men can't get the other 100 million Democrats in the country to tune in.

I didn't know that Glenn Beck and Keith Oberman were the most watched shows in America. V and Friday Night lights are ratings powerhouses.

Oh, they aren't? Oh, That study is ridiculously unscientific?

The 3rd time I've seen that linked to today by people who should know better.

Wow. I've never voted Democrat in my life, but apparently I watch TV like one.
