RIP Life Unexpected, I guess.

HBO is developing a comedy starring Molly Shannon as a woman reentering the secular world after being a nun for two decades. It's being described as "The 40-Year-Old Virgin meets Mary Katherine Gallagher," and it sounds amazing. Almost enough for me to let slide that HBO continues to invest in Hung and Entourage -- and that's a lot!

It's not officially canceled, but The CW is not ordering any more Life Unexpected scripts beyond this season's initial 13 episode order. I'm not a Life Unexpected fan, but I do hope for the actors' sakes that The CW doesn't pull a Katie Cassidy: waiting exactly long enough to officially cancel the show that the actors miss pilot casting season and have no choice but to accept bad roles on other CW shows. I can't deal with the idea of Lux bringing the annoying to the already grating 90210, or Baze trying to play a badass assassin on Nikita or some other ridiculous crap involving Cate sucking anyone's blood on The Vampire Diaries.

In our daily NBC-can't-pick-a-non-laughable-project-to-save-their-lives watch, NBC announced three new developing series today, and they're all winners. The first is an adaptation of some comic book Milo Ventimiglia made up, starring Milo Ventimiglia as a pill-popping superhero who doesn't sleep. The second is a Michael Patrick King sitcom about a middle aged straight hairdresser in Beverly Hills who is struggling to stay young, and is also probably struggling to not be perceived as gay (I'm guessing). And the third is an adaptation of Chelsea Handler's book Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea, though it will not star Handler herself. Today's installment is definitely better than Monday's haunted grapevines, but still -- all three had better be drastically different from those initial descriptions to be halfway watchable.

And ABC's Skating with the Stars cast was announced. I already made fun of it today and I'm not doing it twice.
