Today's TWoP News: Dec. 22, 2010

Good news for anyone DVRing Sarah Palin's Alaska, and MTV tackles abortion in today's news... what would Mama Bear Palin think?!

Sarah Palin's Alaska will likely be renewed for a second season. Honestly, is there anything more to Alaska that could possibly make up another season? Especially Sarah Palin's version of it? Mama Bears, making s'mores for your infinite number of weirdly named children, and wearing awkward boating gear... I think they've covered all there is to her Alaska in Season 1.

After the success of shows like 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom, MTV has decided to air a special on abortion called No Easy Decision, which will feature a former 16 and Pregnant young mother deciding whether or not to keep her second pregnancy. This will be another unwarranted opportunity for Dr. Drew to voice his "words of wisdom" as he talks to other teens who chose abortion over the prospect of exploiting their knocked-up story to MTV.

Former Life star and British actor Damian Lewis has been cast as the male lead in the Showtime pilot Homeland. He'll be playing Scott Brody, a marine sergeant who returns to America after being imprisoned in Iraq for years. Finally, another Showtime series besides Dexter that's not about a sassy mother with a crapload of problems.

FX's Justified is set to return for their second season on February 9th. Unlike his short stint as a competing paper salesman on The Office, it's a badass role Timothy Olyphant actually belongs in.

In addition to Cash Cab, Chicago will also be getting their own version of Boardwalk Empire, with the TV adaptation of the book "Lords of the Levee: The Story of Bathhouse John and Hinky Dink." Robert De Niro will be producing it, which should keep him occupied from working on another awful and unneccessary continuation of the Meet the Parents storyline.

The midseason schedule for CBS has been released, with the Criminal Minds spinoff premiering on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. and new comedy Mad Love on Mondays at 8:30 p.m. Blue Bloods will move to Wednesdays at 10 p.m. for a few weeks until switched back to Fridays at 10 p.m., The Defenders moves to Fridays at 8 p.m. and Rules of Engagement will move to Thursdays at 8:30 p.m., but the most important news is that $#*! My Dad Says won't be plaguing anyone's TV screens for awhile next year.

CW's Entertainment President Dawn Ostroff is likely to step down from her position at the end of the season. If I worked for a network that produced Hellcats, I'd probably want out, too.

Instead, they'll be exploiting their abortion story. I wish MTV and VH1 would just go off the air. They have clearly proven to be entirely too irresponsible to have programming.
