"Golden Globe nominee Piper Perabo." Let that soak in.
The Golden Globes were announced today, and the TV categories included some pretty baffling nominees. Apparently, Piper Perabo is a really good actress! We didn't pick up on that while watching Covert Affairs! Maybe we need to watch harder?
Possibly to make up for Americans being lambasted by British judges in so many of our talent competitions, the Hoff is going to go judge Brits on Britain's Got Talent. Give 'em Hell, Hoff! Stock up on American-flag parachute pants.
Once-respected actress Virginia Madsen (there was a moment there, around the time Sideways came out. Remember?) has taken a role on The Event. First D.B. Sweeney, and now this? Be still my beating circa-1992 heart.
Mekhi Phifer is about to get a whole new fan base, now that he's signed on as a lead on the new season of Torchwood, which will be jointly produced by Starz. Fans of bisexual immortal aliens, start your Facebook pages!
On Roger Ebert's new version of At the Movies, which will air on Chicago public television, the voiceless movie critic will speak electronically.
Parks & Rec star Adam Scott will produce a sitcom for NBC called My Son Gomez, about a womanizer who takes in a kid. Wuh-oh! Inexperienced, less-than-emotionally-available single father alert! I've got a great name for it: One and a Half Men.
Jason Lee will co-write, direct and star in a TV show about a superstar skateboarder from the 1980s who is put in a coma for 25 years and comes out an immature 42-year-old man in 2010. Lee will need to pull out every acting trick he knows to play this entirely unfamiliar role.
Don Cheadle. Showtime comedy series. Self-loathing management consultant. Suit of armor with mini-gun attachment. Hilarity!
