Will Smith may actually be working on a TV project that won't involve placing his kids in it, and another probably-painful series about a strong-willed career woman from Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes, in today's news...
When not building an empire for his children to take over the entertainment world, Will Smith is working on a drama for Fox about a female crime-fighting college student set in China with Chinese director Eva Jin. Sounds kind of interesting, but I'm a little worried that Smith might put a wig on his son and convince the network that his work with Jackie Chan in The Karate Kid qualifies him for the role. Family first (in all casting decisions), right?
Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice creator Shonda Rhimes has had her pilot based on the life of PR guru Judy Smith picked up by ABC. I'm wondering if the show will feature any of Smith's past success stories, as she's done damage control for George H. W. Bush, Michael Vick, Senator Larry Craig, Monica Lewinsky and Clarence Thomas. Is "success" the right word?
Starz has set April 1st as the premiere date for their new drama, Camelot, during the 10 pm time slot on Fridays. I still haven't forgiven Starz for cancelling Party Down, so I'd rather watch the cheesy (albeit entertaining) '90s film A Kid in King Arthur's Court instead.
If Modern Family was trying to cast someone that looks like they could kinda be related to Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell) as Claire Dunphy's (Julie Bowen) ex-boyfriend, then they nailed it by choosing Matt Dillon to play the role. In the episode he'll guest-star in, he becomes close friends with Claire's mother, DeDe Pritchett (reprised by Shelley Long). I wonder if this means Jay Pritchett won't be the only parent that can rob the cradle?
