Today's TWoP News: December 9, 2010

So many new shows, so much fail.

Lindsay Lohan is not in talks to appear on Dancing With the Stars. However, her long-lost twin sister Mindy Lohan, whom she met at rehab camp, is already contracted to appear.

Mandy Patinkin has joined the cast of Showtime's Homeland, playing Claire Danes' boss at the CIA. I'm pretty sure they mean he plays her boss at the coffee shop, or maybe her high school principal. Must be a typo.

Whether you love Olivia Munn or hate her, you'll find plenty to love or hate in this preview of her new NBC sitcom, Perfect Couples. Probably more to hate, though.

Former Disney chief Michael Eisner is developing a Garbage Pail Kids TV show. Also, a show about newspapers starring a former Caprica cast member, but I'm betting on the Garbage Pail Kids to actually last a season.

MTV is remaking British series The Inbetweeners, and I cannot think of any way in which that can be a good idea. I'm pretty sure they'd have to cast British actors, and set it in Britain.

...Although it could be worse, I suppose. It could be a teenage version of Entourage on the Disney Channel.

Just in time for the Oscars, James Franco will return to General Hospital, where I presume he will be pinioned under a giant movie award for several days before revealing it to be a performance piece. Classic Franco!

Before Parks & Recreation returns, make sure you check out Ron Swanson's Pyramid of Greatness, and at least pretend to live up to its ideals.

So who's running the betting pool on how long Patinkin will stay on this show?

Yes - an MTV version of "The Inbetweeners" is horrific idea - but when did that stop MTV from doing anything? Having seen the original, MTV can only screw it up. I sense another "Coupling" here - where the original British version was laugh yourself senseless funny - at least the 1st three seasons were - and the American version was more painful than having root canal while being flogged by Amazon Women and having your testicles held over an open fire (just to add a little holiday cheer to this rant :))

I seriously doubt that this will keep MTV from making "The Inbetweeners" or the members of Generation Duh from watching it. They made "Jersey Shore", "16 and Pregnant" and The "Real" Housewives and Katr Gosselin what/who they are today. Congrats.
