Today's TWoP News: January 20, 2011

We're almost at Friday. Here's some news to keep you busy 'til then...

3-D is here to stay! No, really! Businesses mean it. AMC Entertainment Inc. and television set makers are investing more than a billion dollars to upgrade TVs and theaters to be suitable for the new 3-D craze. Some cable providers are already carrying 3-D channels. Researchers aren't so keen on it though. After all, 3-D makes a good number of people feel queasy with headaches and severe eyestrain. No worries though! This is the next best thing since the timeless, popular 4-D (oh wait...)

We can all sleep soundly now -- ABC has made good on its promise of a diverse Charlie's Angels cast so far. Annie Ilonzeh (recent resident of ABC's General Hospital) has won the role of Kate in the network's remake of the iconic show. One angel down. Two to go. The real question here is who will voice Charlie? Anderson Cooper?

ABC has also picked up a pilot that isn't so keen on girl power. Jack Burditt's comedy, The Last Days of Man, focuses on a leading man struggling with his manhood in a world being dominated by women. Tim Allen is possibly up for that male role as another attempt to revive his career...playing a man trying to make it in a "woman's world"... it just screams Emmy winner.

We all could use a little more Liam Neeson in our lives. Cartoon Network's series Star Wars: The Clone Wars has cast Neeson back into the familiar role of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. His character will appear to Obi-Wan Kenobi in visions pertaining to "Chosen One," Anakin Skywalker. Sounds foreboding... but he's the "Chosen One." What's the worst that could happen?

Do you need a Charmed fix? Are you missing some Buffy fighting action in your life? Ron Moore's magical pilot might be your answer. NBC picked up his new ensemble police drama, pitched as "Harry Potter for grown-ups." Wingardium-levi-intrigued?

GLAAD nominees came out for its 22nd Annual Media Awards! Three cheers for many shows and movies including Glee, Howl, and 30 Rock. Here's to hoping those Pretty Little Liars get some props for their pretty little lesbian storyline or "A" might be sending not so pretty little texts to the GLAAD voting committee.
