Today's TWoP News: February 9, 2011

Today might be the first time I've gotten excited about any new shows all year.

That Sarah Michelle Gellar pilot, Ringer, still sounds absolutely silly, but it suddenly became more watchable with the casting of Nestor Carbonell, a.k.a Richard from Lost! Am I getting excited about an hour-long drama on CBS? How did I suddenly get so old?

With the success of Vampire Diaries, CW hopes it has found a formula that it can repeat. Kevin Williamson (co-creator of VD) has been brought on to another show the network is developing based on a book series by L. J. Smith (the VD author). Really, the only difference between these shows is that this new one is about witches. Or rather, this one is primarily about witches.

Kerry Washington has been cast in the newest Shonda Rhimes pilot for ABC. Washington is one of those actresses that we always recognize, but now hopefully we'll have something to remember her from.

While I worry that this might form some kind of Deschanel family monopoly, it looks like Zooey Deschanel might star on a Fox sitcom. The pilot she's looking at sounds lame, but if it means seeing Zooey without having to watch (500) Days of Summer again, I won't complain.

Glee wants you to know just how important the relationship between Will and Holly is with its next Gwyneth Paltrow episode. Not only will she and Matthew Morrison lock lips, they'll be singing a duet of Prince's "Kiss." To make it even more literal, they'll then share some Hersey's chocolate and enjoy some '70s-era heavy metal.

America's "buy, sell, loan" love affair is bigger than ever, and after last fall's successful special, Pawn Queens is getting an eight episode show order from TLC. While this is the third pawn shop show on as many networks, it will be the first one about a female-run shop, which makes me wonder just how much they were able to get for that glass ceiling.

The Real World's 25th season will start on March 9th. It's considerate the way that MTV didn't want us to come down from our Jersey Shore buzz too quickly.

Audra McDonald will leave Private Practice. Considering how little it seems like she is actually on the show any more, I'm more surprised that she's still there.

Years after being forced to give up the Weekend Update chair, Norm MacDonald is getting another news show. This one is dedicated to sports, though. I'm sorry, Norm, no matter how hard you try to convince us, we all know that poker isn't a sport.

In an effort to become relevant, CMT is creating a new music competition produced by Nigel Lythgoe. The more I read up on this, the more the show just seems like a rip-off of The X Factor for people who don't like pop music.

So after reading the cast bios, I think it would be more appropriately titled, "The Real World: Substance Abuse Issues."

Nestor Carbonell! I just caught a bit of Dark Knight while channel surfing and thought how much I was missing him on my tv.

I have to believe Ill be gone by then, but if not, Ill know if its just a thing, or the mark of the beast, because I know my God, and he isnt going to let me be tricked, its just that simple. Now those who refuse to believe in Him, well they might have a problem, but I dont know. I just know my God wouldnt let me be tricked out of a salvation that He has promised me through believing in Jesus Christ. For that to happen, He would have to lie to me, and God doesnt lie, so therefore, yes, I have to believe I would know as to what I was taking. Kind of like Barry Bonds and the clear and cream. He knew what he was taking, regardless of what he says.

Not only was he an 8 time pro bowler, he was also a 5 time AP all pro (every season from 1956-1960), and had 28 turnovers in his 112 career games.

Well that's another way of taking a look at things. It is great to have ones ideas shaken up once in a while so you're able to re-examine your personal bias and habits in thinking. I might not really go along with everything, however I appreciate your own insight.
