Billy Ray Cyrus will make a guest appearance on The View. This is a fantastic blood bath waiting to go down...
He took his shirt off for us on ABC's Ugly Betty. He left his wife for LeAnn Rimes. Irony deals a hand to Eddie Cibrian, who has been cast in NBC's Playboy. Cibrain will replace Jeff Hephner in the leading role of Nick Dalton. Sources report that producers didn't love what Hephner brought to the pilot. I don't think Cibrian will have a difficult time connecting to this role... do you?
Eric Winter will join the doctors on FOX's Weekends at Bellevue. Winter will sport the stethoscope as a scruffy E.R. doctor. Not much of a stretch from Winter's other television roles, if you ask me. In other scruffy pilot casting news, Tom Sizemore joins FOX's pilot Exit Strategy co-starring with Ethan Hawke.
Some more mundane casting news for you. Jason Priestley has been cast in Syfy's Haven for four episodes, and will direct one of the episodes as well. Brandon Walsh has come a long way since 90210.
Marisol Nichols joins the cast of Darren Star's ABC dramedy Good Christian Bitches. It was only yesterday she co-starred in Vegas Vacation... Audrey's grown up! With Darren Star as producer and Robert Harling (writer of Steel Magnolias and First Wives Club) serving as one of the writers, this show has major potential to be the next Desperate Housewives.
New series are popping up all around. Comedy Central is developing a new series, Evil Genius, starring comedian Paul F. Tompkins. The series will focus on an "evil genius" in the aftermath of taking over the entire world! Sounds like it has potential? Probably not.
The Miley Cyrus drama can't get any better! Billy Ray Cyrus is ready to dish out his perspective on the downfall of the latest Disney sensation. Billy Ray will be thrown to the wolves... er, I mean ladies... on ABC's The View. Cyrus is ready to talk about how Disney Channel "ruined" his family by making his daughter a superstar. You know Whoopi, Joy and Barbara are going to tear this man apart. I don't even think Elizabeth will on his side (to pathetically provide weak counterpoints, but still).
Sir Salman Rushdie can write a hell of a novel, but how is he at television writing? We'll find out soon, through Showtime's drama Next People.
Congratulations to Tina Fey and 30 Rock for making it to 100 episodes! We wish them more than a hundred more!
