Happy St. Patrick's Day! NBC just got drunk on green beer and did something awesome!
It wasn't really in much doubt, but it's still nice to have official confirmation that NBC has renewed Community and Parks & Recreation. Also, The Office, which I swear I thought was already renewed. No word yet on the abysmally rated (yes, even more abysmally rated than Community) Perfect Couples and Outsourced, but with no critical favor boosting them up my guess is they're toast.
Glee's next gimmick will be not just an artist-themed episode, but a single album-themed episode, with the writers hard at work on a Fleetwood Mac's "Rumors" ep. I would admit how excited I am about that, but then you would know how big of a dork I am, so. Moving on.
Charlie Sheen's big bad lawsuit against CBS will be settled in arbitration, which is a lot less fun than the courtroom drama we were initially promised. That's the thing about obsessing over bad boys -- eventually they disappoint you by sealing their court proceedings.
Earlier today L.A. Reid resigned from Island Def Jam, lending credence to a rumor that he is set to be one of the judges of X Factor. Because yes, let's just keep putting these ridiculous music industry people who have no experience being on television (colorful and ridiculous as Reid is) on reality shows. This is Jimmy Iovine part deux people, and it is bad.
Pilot casting news time! Nip/Tuck's Dylan Walsh will join Poppy Montgomery in an unnamed CBS cop drama (running out of initials, I guess); Scott Porter will co-star in The CW's Heart of Dixie, about Rachel Bilson having to move from NYC to the country and experience shock at the sights and sounds of southerners; and Ana Gasteyer will play a supporting role as a neighbor on Suburgatory, which just keeps casting and casting and casting and casting. How many people they got on that show now? It's reaching Heroes Season 3 proportions.
