Cable is a magical place with many different measures for success.

It looks like winter will be hanging around a little longer. HBO has given the green light for a second of Game of Thrones. Premium cable: The only place where a television series can score less than a 2 share and be considered a success.

Everyone's favorite character whom they haven't even met yet is getting his own show.TV Land is already looking to spin off Cedric the Entertainer's character from Hot in Cleveland into his own show. I am pretty sure that most of the next season of HiC can now be considered a backdoor pilot for the spinoff.

Unlike Tina Fey who made sure to get knocked up during her show's down time, Emily Deschanel's pregnancy is going to cause the next season of Bones to start a bit late. This just seems like the writers aren't willing to consider all the different roundish dead bodies they could just have Deschanel stand in front of.

Citing personal issues Demi Lovato is dropping out of Sonny with a Chance for good. To compensate for the lack of the title character, the show-within-the-show So Random! will become the actual show transcending its own meta-nature. Next Miley Cyrus is going to admit that her real name has been Hannah Montana all along.

In a strange turn of events Jessalyn Gilsig is returning to Glee. Not only is she coming back for a few episodes this season, she will be in each episode next season. Apparently Sue Sylvester has plans to use her help in bringing down the glee club. I think this is just a ploy by Ryan Murphy to see how quickly he can destroy his most lucrative show ever.

Luckily, the rest of today's definite casting news today seems pretty reasonable. Mary Steenburgen has been brought on to play Elijah Wood's mother in Wilfred. While she is just one of the many guest stars lined up for the show, maybe she will be able to end up like Alan Cumming who is so well loved on The Good Wife that he just signed a deal to be on the show for three more seasons (even if his show hasn't even been renewed for the next one).

In less definite casting news, Simon Cowell is suggesting that Mariah Carey is going to be some kind of "judge of judges" on The X Factor. Other than the title sounding a little over the top, it doesn't really mean anything, though. It seems like Simon is having to cut back on his involvement in his UK show just to generate vague meaningless bits of fanfare for the U.S. X Factor. We get it, Simon, we are probably going to watch the show. Just announce something already.
