Today has been a strange day. Not only might there be another halfway decent ABC Family show, but the very fabric of reality TV might be starting to unfurl.
The idea of a show based on the childhood of a country music star is a bad idea, unless said star is Miranda Lambert. ABC Family is planning a series based on her life growing up with parents who are private investigators who let her and her brother help them solve cases. This might the first ABC Family series that doesn't immediately sound like a poorly taught morality lesson. (Well, besides Pretty Little Liars, which is kinda lesson-free.)
What do you get when you combine Heidi Montag, Jake Pavelka and Danielle Staub under the gaze of a lens? We don't know either, but there is no way it could ever make it to television... unless Reelz decides to pick it up.
HBO released its summer premiere schedule. Hint: If you're worried about missing any of your HBO shows, just tell your DVR just record HBO on Sunday. Of course, because it is a movie, Too Big to Fail will be first airing on a Monday, but you all were already planning to stay in just to watch that movie live, though. Right?
Having already given up on anyone taking her seriously as a news anchor, Katie Couric will be the lead CBS reporter at the upcoming royal wedding. And if you don't think this is kind of a step down from reporting on major world events, just remember Perez Hilton is also providing TV coverage of the wedding.
The Marvel Anime series is getting an English dubbing before it hits G4 soon, and already the English casting choices are going have some fanboys crying for subtitles. Adrian Pasdar will be voicing Iron Man, while Milo Ventimiglia will be doing the same for Wolverine. Where's Mark Hamill when we need him most?
Having apparently run out of everyone else to interview, Tavis Smiley has decided that he needs to be interviewed on his own show. And who better to do so than former professional interviewer Larry King? Good money says this is just to give Smiley a good excuse to make politically charged statements about the government cutting funding to public broadcasting.
MAJOR CABLE NAME CHANGE ALERT: What was once known as the Science Channel will now simply be known as Science. So don't panic, you guys. Also, the new logo, replacing the elemental table symbol, will be a glob of crude oil representing science as the true enemy to Captain Planet.
