This week's TV releases are full of down to earth people just trying to make it in the world like Coach Taylor, Sarah Palin, and (i)Carly Shay.
Friday Night Lights: The Fifth Season
It's sad to see this show come to an end, but after so many other seasons of being on the edge of cancellation it's nice that Friday Night Lights got to end on its own terms letting everyone end up where they needed to be while reminding us that Dillon is still mostly the same as it ever was. The season was not only a wrap up but a return to previous seasons in many ways with the Taylors working at the same school again, players past and present in trouble with the law, and Buddy Garrity actually being interesting again. Oh, and don't think you missed it on TV. NBC has yet to air this season, but DirecTV 101 did a few months ago.
Sarah Palin's Alaska
Like a car crash you can't look away from, Sarah Palin's attempt to show the world the true meaning of being a grizzly momma is disturbing and likely painful for everyone who was involved.
Life Unexpected: The Complete First and Second Seasons
There is just something charming about this cancelled CW series about a girl who ends up in the care of her biological parents after having been put up for adoption when she was born. Sure, I can totally see the reasons it got cancelled, but those only make me like it more.
Lark Rise to Candleford: Complete Collection
It's a British costume drama. What more do you want?
iCarly: Season Two, Volume Three
While it isn't as edgy as Wizards of Waverly Place, iCarly is one of the most fun kids shows anyone over the age of 10 can watch.
