Hate to break it to you, but Fox burst many a bubble last night.
Fox unchained their cancellation bear and officially killed off Human Target, Lie to Me, Breaking In, The Chicago Code and Traffic Light last night. In their place will go newly picked up pilots Alcatraz (the J.J. Abrams one with Hurley from Lost), The Finder (that Bones spinoff no one needs), The New Girl (a single-camera sitcom starring Zooey Deschanel) and I Hate My Teenage Daughter (a sitcom about Jaime Pressly and Katie Finnernan hating their teenage daughters). Sorry to the tens of fans of the cancelled shows, but even you have to know that Fringe deserved the renewal more.
Remember all that speculation about people like John Stamos replacing Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men? Well, apparently Hugh Grant was thisclose to taking the gig, until somebody involved came to their senses and the deal was axed. Wish I could say the same about Hugh Grant's last three movies, but...[Rimshot.]
Eddie Cibrian's scrappy, tabloid-friendly ex-wife Brandi Glanville is joining the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills because apparently she needs a new platform from which to slam LeAnn Rimes constantly. And who can't empathize with that?
In addition to Colin Hanks, the great Mos Def is joining the new season of Dexter, as a religious ex-con who "encounters Dexter." Great! If "encounters" is a new word for "gets murdered by," that is.
And as if we couldn't love the strange cross-pollination of Community and Cougar Town of late any more, tomorrow night's Community finale will feature Cougar Town cast members as background extras. As random as Abed delivering a baby in a van, and twice as fun!
