RIP Hellcats. You were by far my favorite show about pre-law cheerleaders who fight crime, like, ever.
The CW unsurprisingly renewed Nikita and One Tree Hill today, making Hellcats the odd bubble show out. Everyone, please: A moment of silence for Aly Michalka's soon-to-be-discarded wardrobe of custom made half-shirts.
And since they've announced their cancellations, it's time to review The CW's pick-ups: The most buzzed about is Ringer, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar as a woman who steals her twin's identity while on the run from the mob. Also going to series is Kevin Williamson's The Secret Circle, starring Lux from Life Unexpected as a young girl who moves to a new town and discovers she's joined a coven of witches (accidentally? OK). It is, of course, based on novels by the writer of The Vampire Diaries books. Also exciting is The Hart of Dixie from Josh Schwartz, starring Rachel Bilson as a girl who moves to an eccentric Southern town after inheriting a medical practice. Can't wait to DVR that and ABC's Good Christian Belles and have me a sassy Southern double feature (and a mint julep) every week.
Despite the fact that Season 8 will likely be House's final season, Lisa Edelstein has opted not to return to the show. She hasn't said why, but c'mon. We all know why. And I don't blame her one bit.
For those of you understandably disappointed that the pilot Locke & Key wasn't picked up by Fox, the production studio is reportedly trying to get the show on The CW (never gonna happen) or Syfy (maybe could happen!). I wouldn't hold my breath though.
News of CBS pick-ups are rolling in very slowly before the network's Upfront presentation tomorrow, but just know that they have ordered a medical procedural called A Gifted Man, starring Patrick Wilson as a ridiculously handsome doctor/widower. How many of you ladies and gents out there wouldn't mind consoling Patrick Wilson, amIright? (Sorry. My brain has been melted by Upfronts madness.)
