Awesome casting news: Edward James Olmos has joined the cast of Dexter. Considering how beautifully this show deals with guest stars we hate (Julia Stiles, John Lithgow), can't wait to see what they do with someone we actually love. (Unless they Jimmy Smits him. Please don't Jimmy Smits him, Dexter writers.)

Jane Lynch is in talks with the TV Academy to host this year's Emmys. Which means everything will be about Glee, which means my TV will be on mute half of the time.

Supernatural producer Sera Gamble hinted today that the seventh season of the show will be Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid-inspired, with Dean and Sam capturing the spirit of "cowboys" and "outlaws" again. Cue a recurrence of Tumblr fangirl insanity when Dean and Sam break out the cowboy hats.

The History Channel is teaming up with Mark Burnett to create a scripted miniseries aptly titled The Bible. It will be a five-part, 10-hour series featuring selected stories from The Bible, expected to air some time in 2013. Personally, I'm rooting for Judas for Pirate Master.

HBO picked up Peter Berg's boxing coach reality series On Freddie Roach earlier today, because unlike FX, HBO doesn't have to care about ratings.

The Tudors duo Michael Hirst and Morgan O'Sullivan are creating a 10-episode drama series, Vikings, for MGM (coming to a network near you). History? Two for you, history! You go, history!
