BLOGS
It's finally Friday, and as usual the week has been full of ghastly people behaving terribly on reality shows, so let's do this thing: Five horrible nominees, one trash king crowned at the end. As always, feel free to play along in the comments.
Carson Daly, The Voice
I have a developing theory about Carson Daly: I think it's possible that he's been kidnapped by scientists and replaced with a primitive android. At this point in the competition, Carson's only job is to hang back and say supportive things about the auditions to the contestants' families, and he can't say anything -- even the most basic sentences, things like "Good job" -- without them being stilted, egregiously fake and bizarrely robotic. Data from Star Trek: TNG could console these people more warmly than Carson is at this point, and it's making me worry about a looming machine uprising.
Alexis, The Real Housewives of Orange County
"Jim. Jim. Jim. Jim. JimJimJim. Jiiiiim!!!!! Jim. J--" Shut up about Jim, woman! And stop crying! You're an adult; you should be able to leave your house without your awful balding husband without sobbing inconsolably like three baby girls.
Randy Jackson, American Idol
How much did Randy Jackson get paid to say "This contestant is in it to win it!!!" to every single contestant this week? And to tell James Durbin that crying onstage is better than singing the right notes? Millions of dollars? Great. Wonderful judging. Definitely earning that salary.
Sonja, The Real Housewives of New York
That whole bizarre pecking order rant echoed Kelly's awful "I'm up here, you're down here" comments to Bethenny a million years ago. Not exactly great company to be in, Sonja, even if you do have a point about Ramona needing her Pinot Grigio. (And don't get me started on her photo shoot.)
Jamie, Khloe & Lamar
It takes a really elite kind of freeloading, sycophantic jackass to look like the biggest freeloading, sycophantic jackass on a Kardashian show, but this guy is really getting the job done. Oh, and, Jamie? Please do tell me more about how you're from Queens. I simply haven't heard enough about it!
Winner:
Carson Daly. Machines are to be feared, not to be hosting singing competitions.
