I don't have the strong feelings about the original Dallas series that some people do. I mean, I was aware of the primetime soap and the whole "Who Shot J.R.?" storyline and the Bobby shower dream thing, but I was never obsessed with it. So the trailer that sneaked out last night for TNT's remake (which won't even air until next summer) didn't really do all that much for me either way.
I appreciate that this is sort of Dallas: The Next Generation and that it brings back some alumni from the previous show to reprise their roles. But man, seeing how they've aged (particularly Patrick Duffy) only makes me feel old, especially considering that, for most of its run, the original was a show that I had to sort of sneak to watch as it was on past my bedtime. The new series has brought in some young pretty people to round out the cast, including Jordana Brewster and Jesse Metcalfe, and they seem fine... from the less than 60 seconds that we've seen so far. With the daytime soap drama becoming increasingly endangered, it's unsurprising that the primetime ones are making a return, and being on TNT might actually give this a chance to find its footing so it doesn't get axed instantly like Lone Star (which had initially been touted as the "new Dallas"). A soap needs time to really gain an audience and this one has a built-in fanbase that will likely get a thrill when they hear the familiar strains of the theme song, so I'd say it's got a shot. As long as the newbies in the cast can bring the drama and go toe-to-toe with Dallas alums like Charlene Tilton and Larry Hagman, that is. My big question is: When will they shoot J.R. again as a ratings ploy?
Watch the trailer for yourself below, and sound off on what you think.

I'd watch this. I loved the original and lived about 5 miles from Southfork. In the clip, I like how they acknowledged the Bobby/JR feud.
I'd give it a try. I was hooked on Dallas in the early years, but by the end they'd had too many battles over control of Ewing Oil. I'm hoping this opens the door to a reboot for Knots Landing, which wasn't limited to one family's story and was pretty good up until the end.
I paid $32.67 for a XBOX 360 and my mom got a 17 inch Toshiba laptop for $94.83 being delivered to our house tomorrow by FedEX. I will never again pay expensive retail prices at stores. I even sold a 46 inch HDTV to my boss for $650 and it only cost me $52.78 to get. Here is the website we using to get all this stuff, BidsGet .com
I too was a kid who had to sneak around to watch the original. And "Who Shot JR?" was such a huge event, particularly ratings wise. The kind of event that particular era of tv seemed chock full of and that todays shows, for myriad reasons, simply can't replicate anymore. Though maybe that's not such a bad thing. Whether or not this is any good, at the very least it spares us from the bigscreen version that could not get off the ground. And considering that Travolta was supposed to play JR and J-Lo was supposed to play Sue Ellen, that is very much a good thing.
I could have sworn that Patrick Duffy was dead!
What is Dalls? Your teaser mentions it but it doesn't seem to exist.
