Today in news -- a Walking Dead shocker, a way to get your Mad Men fix, and an OC alum is coming back to TV.
Just days after taking the stage at Comic-Con, Frank Darabont has stepped down as showrunner of AMC's The Walking Dead. A source said that the reason behind it was that "Darabont hails from the feature world and...never quite adjusted to the daily grind of producing a TV series." Still, a sudden and particularly strange move considering how well the show was doing. His replacement is recently hired executive producer Glen Mazzara.
Mad Men will finally be available on Netflix beginning tomorrow. So if you've been missing the SC-turned-SCDP crew, you can get your fix, and if you are somehow still in the contingent that does not watch Mad Men, we'd say this is a good time to start.
Adam Brody is lending his voice to the new MTV series Good Vibes. Yay! Seth Cohen, we've missed you. Now every OC alum has a career but Mischa Barton. Ah, well. After Coop's death and the eyesore that was The Beautiful Life, there never was any coming back for her, was there?
Law & Order: SVU's Mike Doyle has landed a recurring role on the upcoming A Gifted Man. There's really not one weak link in this cast so far -- which bodes well for the premiere this fall.
Attention, Smallville fans (all four of you that are left): Smallville is getting a 62-disc DVD box set, which will include five hours of new bonus material.
It's going to be a Nanny reunion on Happily Divorced -- Charles Shaughnessy is set to guest-star on the season finale, and Renee Taylor, who played the Nanny's mother, will also appear in an upcoming episode. This is about as unnecessary as it was to put Fran Drescher back on TV.
Kevin Smith is working on a syndicated talk show, which may air after TMZ. Can we just talk about how busy Kevin Smith must be? Pretty sure he has four different projects in the works right now. He's like James Franco, but...not. At all.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills has added two new cast members for Season Two -- Eddie Cibrian's ex-wife Brandi Glanville and businesswoman Dana Wilkey. While they won't be official Housewives, they will appear as friends to the returning crop of women. We were pulling for Allison DuBois, but considering Brandi Glanville enjoys engaging in Twitter wars with LeAnn Rimes (ugh, how do I know this stuff?) she seems like she'll bring enough crazy for both of them.
