The Winchesters get anime-mated and the Jersey Shore crew heads back to the...uh, Jersey shore.
Supernatural: The Anime Series
The long-running CW series gets animated -- literally -- in this cartoon series, produced by the respected Japanese anime company, Madhouse, the studio behind such series as Ninja Scroll and Devil May Cry. Set over the course of the show's first two seasons, these 22 episodes are billed as "prequel and spin-offs" that fit into existing continuity. And while Jensen Ackles only lends his vocal cords to select episodes as Dean Winchester, his on-screen brother Jared Padalecki voices Sam Winchester for the entire run. Way to keep it all in the family, guys.
Extras: Video introductions to each episode by Ackles and Padalecki, interviews and a making-of featurette.
Jersey Shore: Season Three (Uncensored)
After a controversial detour to Miami, Snooki, The Situation, Pauly D and the rest of the crew return to the Garden State's Seaside Heights hood for more fighting, partying and casual hook-ups. But of course, this is only a prelude for what we really want to see: the cast's trip to Italy, which will be depicted in the about-to-debut fourth season. How do you say "I swear I don't have herpes" in Italian?
Extras: A reunion and after-hours special, extended scenes and cast confessionals.
Stargate Atlantis: The Complete Series Gift Set
The second entry in the surprisingly durable Stargate TV franchise enjoyed a five-season run on SyFy (or, as it was more conventionally spelled then, SciFi) before being axed to make way for Stargate Universe, which only lasted a mere two years before being dispatched to that crowded galaxy known as cancellation. Set in the mythical underwater city of Atlantis -- which here was discovered one Stargate hop away in the Pegasus galaxy -- the series often labored in the shadow of its predecessor, SG1, but mostly offered solid meat-and-potatoes science fiction week in and week out. It also made a star out of Jason Momoa, who just appeared in the first season of Game of Thrones, and will soon be seen on the big screen as the new Conan.
Extras: Commentary tracks galore, behind-the-scenes featurettes, cast profiles and deleted scenes.
Also on DVD:
Bruce Campbell is so great on the USA series Burn Notice, the network gave him his own spin-off movie, The Fall of Sam Axe, which arrives on disc today after its TV premiere last April. Think the stars of contemporary children's shows are obnoxious? Give Dennis the Menace: Season Two a whirl -- his antics may make you beg for iCarly.
