On this first day of August, Adam Levine is becoming a renaissance man, Switched at Birth gets a tall order, and a Baldwin stays busy.
NBC has ordered a "karaoke bar comedy" from Adam Levine, who will executive produce. Ummm...Levine is funny and all, but whaaa?
ABC Family has ordered 22 more episodes of Switched at Birth, which means the first season will add up to a (completely unnecessary) 32-episode count. Meanwhile, shows like Mad Men get 13 episodes a season. Sigh. There is just no justice in TV world.
Billy Baldwin will recur on the upcoming season of Hawaii Five-O. Remember that one time he played Serena's dad on Gossip Girl? Didn't think there was any coming back from that, did you? But no -- he's a Baldwin. He will always come back.
Some Law & Order: SVU news -- NBC says they are not killing off Chris Meloni's character, which leaves room for a return, and Mariska Hargitay will in fact appear in every episode of the 13th season. Also, TR Knight is set to guest-star on the show as a serial rapist. Now, to find one person that actually buys TR Knight as a rapist...
Carrie-Ann Moss will recur on this season of Chuck as a potential love interest for Adam Baldwin's John Casey. Because Carrie-Ann Moss is soft-and-fuzzy love interest material, obviously.
NBC president Robert Greenblatt announced at the TCAs that the network is developing a new half-hour comedy starring Sean Hayes. Yay for Sean Hayes getting work! It always surprises me he doesn't do more.
Hugh Hefner lends his voice to the pilot episode of NBC's The Playboy Club, but producers have mercifully opted to discontinue his narration on the series. He may, however, appear in cameos in future episodes. I think less Hugh Hefner is pretty much fine with everyone. So thank you for that, NBC.
Robert Blatt also spoke about James Spader joining The Office, saying it will help the writing staff to "get back on their game and refocus on what the show is." Fair to say we won't believe that until we see it.

Of course Carrie-Ann Moss can't be soft and fuzzy as a love interest for Casey. It's Casey! He needs a tough ass-kicking woman. And Trinity could possibly be that woman.
