Move over Lady Gaga -- the big name at this year's VMA's is Katniss Everdeen.

Hunger Games fans hungry for news about the currently-shooting film version of the bestselling book will have some incentive to watch this year's MTV Video Music Awards. The network has just announced that they'll be premiering the very first footage from the highly-anticipated movie, which stars Jennifer Lawrence (who will be on hand to introduce the clip) as a teenage warrior in a dystopian future that's forced to compete in the annual Hunger Games, a deadlier version of the Olympics. It's a major coup for MTV, as the film has largely been hidden from sight since shooting started, even bypassing this year's Comic-Con. Following its TV premiere, the footage will be immediately available on MTV.com for fans to drool over/bitch about ad nauseam until The Hunger Games finally arrives in theaters next March.

The fall guest-star casting parade continues to roll merrily along. Katniss' VMA co-star Lady Gaga will drop by Springfield as herself for a Simpsons episode set to air in Spring 2012. Former Grey's Anatomy star T.R. Knight returns from a two-year TV hiatus for a role on the last Law & Order series standing, SVU. He'll play a man that comes under suspicion of being a serial rapist. (What, you thought he was just going to be a jaywalker? This is SVU after all.) Finally, Jay Mohr will appear as an assistant D.A. on Prime Suspect opposite Maria Bello. It's just a one-shot appearance now, but could turn into a recurring role. So no pressure or anything, Jay.

Katie Couric has weighed all her options, examined all the angles, explored every possible scenario and decided to call her new ABC talk show Katie. Apparently, that title wasn't good enough for the Twitterati, which furiously Tweeted their disapproval in 140 character soundbites following the announcement. Guys, guys c'mon -- it could have been worse. She could have called it, Oprah Reloaded.

In a perfect piece of casting, Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet will play silent-screen comedian Fatty Arbuckle for a planned HBO biopic. A mega-star in Hollywood's early days, Arbuckle's career was derailed following a wild party at his hotel suite that left one starlet dead. Though he was eventually exonerated, he was a pariah in Hollywood and died in semi-obscurity in 1933. We smell another Emmy for Stonestreet's shelf.

Unwilling to rest until they turn every blue-collar job in America into a reality show, Discovery Channel has ordered 12 episodes of Carfellas, a new series about a Long Island used car dealership run by an ex-con. Now all we need is a American Chopper/Carfellas cross-over where they drag race their respective vehicles for an hour.

There's turmoil on the set of ABC's midseason comedy G.C.B., with executive producer Darren Star (he of Sex and the City fame) reportedly being told to stay off the set by his fellow EPs following a falling-out with the show's creator Robert Harling. Star has not officially left the series, but for now at least, all of his notes are being passed along through ABC Studios rather than directly to Harling and his staff. Freezing out a colleague? That's a total Samantha move right there.
