If you want an Emmy, you might have to sing for it.
At the Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday, Gwyneth Paltrow sung her way to her first Emmy for Glee, while Justin Timberlake won two for singing on -- er, hosting -- Saturday Night Live and writing his monologue song. And despite its lack of musical performance, Boardwalk Empire won seven awards for different production categories... but that's just because the Emmy voters will throw themselves at that show at every chance they get.
More parents will be visiting Glee's McKinley High this upcoming season: Don Most (Happy Days) and Valerie Mahaffey (Northern Exposure) were cast as Emma Pillsbury's parents, Rusty and Rose. Glad Ryan Murphy's decided to once again forbid us from meeting Rachel's dads. At least he's finally closing up that burning plothole of where Emma's red hair came from.
From Sacred Heart hospital to... a boat in a parking lot? Scrubs' Sarah Chalke will be joining Cougar Town as Bobby Cobb's recurring love interest.
Power couple Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are teaming up for an NBC pilot about dueling sisters. DeGeneres will executive produce, while de Rossi will be starring. With the wife around, Portia might want to leave Lindsay Fünke's bedazzled "SLUT" shirt behind.
The CW picked up The Carrie Diaries, a prequel series about Carrie Bradshaw's high school days gallivanting around New England in no-no-notorious '80s fashion. Without Entourage around anymore, it's only appropriate that another bastardized form of Sex and the City will be back on TV.
And finally, our hearts go out to the family and friends of Andy Whitfield, former star of Starz's Spartacus, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 39 due to non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was diagnosed 18 months ago and replaced with Liam McIntyre for the second season.
