If Netflix has its way, Lieutenant Dangle's short shorts will be back.
Netflix is in talks with Reno 911!'s producers about bringing the show back, exclusively on Netflix. Although there are some setbacks, including Comedy Central's ownership of the copyright and that all the actors (what are their names again?) aren't board yet, producer Michael Shamberg sees it as a "realistic possibility." Maybe they could at least make Heroes on Patrol, the documentary the Reno Sherrif's department thought they were making.
Speaking of, that Netflix price hike might be worth the extra money after all. The company struck a deal with AMC Networks, allowing season 1 of The Walking Dead and other shows including Portlandia and Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys to stream on Netflix, beginning today.
Haters ain't gonna hate, if The CW has anything to say about it. The network canceled H8R, Mario Lopez's low-rated reality show, where celebrities were pitted against their biggest criticizers and apparently only know outdated slang. L8R!
It's a mini Cheers reunion over at ABC: Rhea Perlman will co-star opposite Kirstie Alley in Alley's ABC comedy pilot about an Italian-American family that clashes with their new WASPy neighbors in New Jersey. No pressure for this show to succeed now. None at all.
The CW is in the Buffy reunion spirit (not that we blame them). Amber Benson (Tara on Buffy) will guest star on Ringer, while Charisma Carpenter and James Marsters (a.k.a. Cordelia and Spike) will be guest starring on Supernatural. Now if only they could get Alyson Hannigan off HIMYM and on the reunion spree...
Ryan Murphy and Allison Adler (Glee's new co-executive producer) are pitching a half-hour comedy project to networks today. Although there's no word on the premise, rumors are it's the Glee spinoff. If it is the spinoff, that's at least 30 less minutes of Rachel sucking up to the camera and trying to out-sing Kurt all over NYC than we expected.
Yesterday was a big day for Paul Scheer. In addition to The League's season premiere and NTSF:SD:SVU's season finale, Adult Swim ordered another season of the procedural parody. Scheer said he's anxious "to continue to punch, shoot, stab, and run people over with lawnmowers and get paid for it." And we're anxious to keep watching.
White Collar creator Jeff Eastin finalized a deal with USA Network for a drama pilot about agents from federal and local agencies (including LAPD and FBI) living in a house together in Southern California. So it's The Real World: Agent Edition?
It's hard for a has-been to find success, even when it's in an entirely other industry. Lemon Basket, the restaurant created from VH1's Famous Food with the "help" of cast members like Heidi Montag, Danielle Staub and Vincent Pastore, closed for good this week. Somewhere in LA right now, Juicy is destroying a $400 chair.
