Ryan Phillippe is the new Julian Assange.
Or, at least in the Damages world, he is. Phillippe will play an Assange-type that turns to Ellen for help, on the show's final season. The only question that remains is whether he'll play a good Assange or a bad Assange... and hopefully it's the latter, since we all know he can play bad pretty well -- remember Cruel Intentions?
Goodbye, Angels. ABC canceled the Charlie's Angels reboot on Friday. The network will still show the four unaired episodes, but the October 27 episode will be preempted by It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, because Charlie Brown > Angels reboot. Was anyone surprised by this cancellation?
Even better news: Sons of Anarchy has been renewed!
In a surprising move, TNT canceled Memphis Beat. Jason Lee fans, don't fret - you can still catch him on Up All Night soon.
Party Down's Ken Marino will play Dave's (Zachary Knighton) shrink on Happy Endings. Guess there's no Soup R' Crackers in Marino's future!
Saturday Night Live's Taran Killam will guest star on Community's Christmas episode as a choir director. It's going to be hard to top last year's Claymation episode, but I won't say no to any references to Killam on Moody's Point from his Amanda Show days.
NTSF:SD:SUV's June Raphael will guest star on New Girl as Sadie, Jess's intimidating lesbian friend that is both an OB/GYN and a skilled archer. I wouldn't want to get on her bad side (although Nick definitely will).
Fox bought Wildwood, a 1980s dramedy produced by Shonda Rhimes about a teenager who pretends adult to get a job at a bar on the Jersey Shore. The Jersey Shore's exposure is starting to get a little old, and I'm pretty sure putting it in another decade won't help.
Marlon Wayans will write, executive produce and star in an ABC comedy about two brothers that are cops. Wonder what Shawn and Keenan are up to these days?
Saturday Night Live's pulling out all the funny stops with the guest host roster for November. On November 5, Charlie Day will host with musical guest Maroon 5 (totally forgot they existed, but hey, "Iran So Far", Part 2?) while Emma Stone will host for the second time on November 12 with musical guest Coldplay. Jason Segel will round out the month on November 19 with Florence + The Machine. As long as they never, ever think of bringing the Secret Word game show sketch back for the millionth time, we're good.
