Best. Spaceship. Ever.

Farscape: The Complete Series Blu-ray
The finest space opera of the past two decades without the words "Battlestar" or "Galactica" in its title, Farscape was a real humdinger of a show, taking creative chances most series wouldn't dare attempt and doing it all with a smile on its face and a spring in its step. And in Ben "John Crichton" Browder and Claudia "Aeryn Sun" Black, it also had the most romantic (and sexiest) central romance of any ongoing serial in recent memory. Those two already good-looking individuals are even more attractive (if that's possible) in high-def and the Blu-ray format also allows you to appreciate the show's terrific use of puppetry (courtesy of The Jim Henson Company) all the more. Farscape may be gone from the airwaves, but not from the hearts of its devoted fanbase.
Extras: An all-new retrospective documentary with fresh interviews from Browder and Black, as well as series mastermind Rockne S. O'Bannon, plus all the features that were available on the previous "Complete Series" edition, from commentary tracks to behind-the-scenes featurettes.

Awkward: Season One
We weren't the biggest fans of this MTV high-school series when it premiered over the summer. But as the series ran its course, a strange thing happened: it turned into a funnier, smarter and all-around better show. Now we can't wait for Season 2 and the further misadventures of our favorite loveable loser, Jenna.
Extras: Webisodes, a behind-the-scenes look at the high-school sets and character introductions.

Being Human: The Complete First Season
The rare American remake of a British series that doesn't completely tarnish the original, SyFy's version of Being Human benefits from a mostly likable cast and story arcs that are based on its predecessor, but spin off in their own ways. Plus, it's hard to go too terribly wrong when your central premise involves a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost living together under one roof. That's sci-fi gold right there.
Extras: A making-of featurette, interviews with the cast and crew and a recording of the show's 2011 Comic-Con panel.

Also on DVD:
Robert Wagner scored his first big TV gig on It Takes a Thief: The Complete Series, playing the titular thief, Alexander Mundy, who agrees to lend his criminal talents to the government after they offer to spring him from prison. Whitechapel: The Ripper Returns finds present-day Scotland Yard dealing with a rash of killings that resemble the Ripper murders of old. And finally, the well-reviewed History Channel series WWII in HD gets a special collector's edition release just in time for the holiday gift season.
